He probably realized his Senate majority's f*cked back in March, so might as well make it so M4A won't happen any time soon.

/namely by doing the minimum to avoid the full and sudden collapse of the healthcare system that a SCOTUS ruling against the ACA would cause.

haha y'all think John Roberts cares what the law says.

2020-09-05 7:07:37 PM
The Supreme Court must recognize these overrides and leave the Affordable Care Act intact.

Oh you sweet summer child.   Expecting consistent jurisprudence from our SCOTUS.

Hot take: They didn't (and don't) actually care about Obamacare. They just care about the guy whose name is attached.

Looks like the sad little turtle didn't ruin everything. Just most everything.

Damn it, the Turtle was off getting loaded with Oleg Deripaska. If you distract him from corruption, he might get back to work.

He's portrayed as caring deeply about "his legacy," as if this somehow is good thing.

I think Obamacare is terrible, but Mitch McConnell should leave the Affordable Care Act alone as it does a lot of good for this country.

They need something to continue to rally against. Like abortion. It is a constant stream of donation money.

Well, to be the Devil's Advocate here, perhaps Mitch realized that the ACA needed to stand to save the political backlash? Getting the entire ACA ruled unconstitutional by the SCOTUS due to Republican lawsuits would blow up in the GOP's faces. Imagine health insurance companies bringing back pre-existing conditions again or denying coverage if you got cancer or some other expensive case?

/Mitch isn't as dump as rank & file Trumpers

Republican politicians actually want it to exist while pretend they are trying to get rid of it.

If it was repealed people would be farked and pissed and bring more people against them..

They're the ones that attached it.  It was at least 80% their plan to begin with.

Killing the bulk of their voters is bad.

2020-09-05 7:24:29 PM
The Supreme Court should recognize and apply Congress' overrides when it rules in California v. Texas

I'll wait to see it from the SC itself before I believe this will actually happen.  It's a nice idea, but really, the Rs in general have been doing their best to fark over the country.

Unfortunately this could kill many normal people too.

Actually, this is the kind of argument Roberts would support.

They can't actually get rid of Obamacare or abortion for this reason.  That, and it would demonstrate just how important both of them are and how bad we'd be without them.

Wonder how long it will take for someone to strawman the medical debt crisis into arguing about how it was irresponsible to borrow so much money to go to college from a private lender that you couldn't possibly pay back, therefore proving anyone who can't afford their medical bills is an irresponsible loser and shouldn't have government help.

Wait for it, trust me.

Right, they don't even know what it is, or have any vision of what health insurance should look like in America. Remember when Trump was going to fix Obamacare, but passed the ball to Ryan instead, who passed the ball to some idiot lobbyist who wrote a law so bad the Republicans voted against it?

It was their plan a a black Democrat stole it from them.

Holtzman Vogel filed this in Virginia for the Senate Super PAC Fund, which includes Board of Directors Chairman Robert 'Mike' Duncan (seen below w/ Junior) and Steven Law, both are co-founders of 'American Crossroads' PAC. It is the same exact address of Virginia state Senator Jill Vogels, who was involved in the the Senate Leadership SuperPAC, is the firm that represents Kanye West.

It is run in junction w/ Mitch McConnell and it funded by Steve Wynn.

To be fair, I think they also hated the ACA for the "affordable" and "care" parts too.

I'm pretty sure McConnell is an "a whole" on purpose.

Some of the hardcore Bernie types think it is terrible because it still leaves some people out.  It's not Medicare for all.

That's why you need to call it the ACA, not Obamacare. Spread the ACA. Even if it's nonsensical. Obamacare is crap. I love the ACA.

It is sort of welfare for insurance companies, when an actual public health care system would be cheaper and more effective.

The Republicans called it Obamacare.

If someone who was being treated for cancer suddenly loses his insurance coverage because Mitch and the Republicans eliminated the law and insurance companies could cancel high-risk patients that cost too much, and that person dies, could his family sue Mitch and the Republicans for wrongful death?

Are congresspeople immune from liability, even when such liability is so obviously laying at one group's feet?

BlousyBrown: What is terrible about Obamacare? Someone splain please.

It confuses healthcare with health insurance and didn't go far enough to fix the problems such as inconsistent charges, overpriced drugs, and actual decent health care. Basically, it was too weak. Not that either side wants to fix any of that becaue it hurts their stock portfolios.
