This has already been ruled on by SCOTUS... why is this still being appealed?  Why hasn't the judge said "fark you!" and ordered the records turned over immediately?

2020-08-31 7:12:06 PM
The number of times he's attempted to use SCOTUS as his personal arbitrator is nuts. And the fact that SCOTUS keeps agreeing to hear the cases is just as nuts--an opinion that has been conveyed by some of the Justices themselves.

If that argument works, doesn't that destroy the whole concept of subpoenas? After all, isn't it usually information damaging to someone that is being demanded?

SCOTUS ruled he could not use "Preznit iz abuv teh law" as a reason to quash the subpoena.  It specifically did not preclude other arguments.  I mean, there aren't any other arguments of any relevance, but when has that stopped a lawyer who's client is too stupid to stop signing the checks.

Yeah at this stage Trump is basically Jim Carrey in Liar Liar objecting because it's devastating to his case

Well other than the fact that Trump doesn't like to sign checks other than to his kid's charity and then back to himself.

Thats what people typically say about people who are arrested as part of a profile.  "yeah, you were black in a white neighborhood so i pulled you over.  why do you have a problem with that if you were not doing anything wrong?"

HOWEVER...in this case, there IS evidence of wrongdoing, and a history of obfuscation, so I dont believe that standard really applies.

Just what's in those records, anyway?

I want to see Biden call him a criminal and tax cheat during the debate

I want to see Trump threaten to sue

I want to see Biden say "Discovery will be public.  You still got the balls to sue me?"

Oh, but his taxes are under audit.  Right?  Isn't there some kind of rule or gentlemen's agreement that you can't see taxes if they are under audit?  Isn't that how things work (as understood by all the little people)?

Indeed - indictments can be troublesome. But I fail to see how that's an argument for non compliance.

Start levying fines in the $100,000 range each day the returns aren't handed over.

This subpoena fight is not the Mnuchin fight, this is a subpoena to Trump's accounting firm and Trump has intervened to stop his accounting firm from complying.

I don't see why not... unless, of course, you have multiple versions of your taxes  and you don't want the auditors to start asking why the numbers don't match.

It is not just his taxes that may have multiple versions, but also financial statements given to banks to secure loans, financial statements to obtain insurance on his buildings, financial statements supplied to tax appraisers for state and city entities that he used to get lower property tax appraisals, etc.......

How the fark can the FBI, through James Comey, destroy Clinton's election less than a week before election day, by saying her email server could be, maybe, criminal; but nobody can see Trump's tax returns because even handing them over would suggest possible (not even criminal) wrongdoing?

My guess is, this is another distraction from something really heinous.  The more energy he can tie up seeking those documents, the less energy people have to be looking where he doesn't want them looking.  Not that they aren't absolutely horrible, but I'm suspicious.  This may be the wrong ball to have our eye on.  So I'm glad the State of New York is on it.

Problem with that is at 63 days until the election, that's $6.3 million. Dump would consider that money well spent. They've probably spent more than that in legal fees already.

Needs jail time until compliance, or perhaps a threat of dissolution to the accountancy firm that has the records

U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday urged a federal appeals court not to let Manhattan's top prosecutor have his tax returns, saying the handover would cause him irreparable harm

I challenge you to name one U.S. president or someone vying for that position in history that's trying as hard as you are to keep people from getting their hands on their tax returns.  An honest person would just give them over without any thought of there being something amiss.  It's blatantly obvious (even by your own admission) that revealing them will sink your nomination (as well as your freedom come January) because they'll open the floodgates to illegalities.

You know you're a fraud and hopefully relatively soon that'll be used against you in a court of law, you disgusting twat.
