I'm shocked there's no morals clause in his golden parachute contract.

foo monkey: I'm shocked there's no morals clause in his golden parachute contract.

I was wondering the same thing, until I remembered that morals clauses are only for the little people.  In this case the paying students.

Guys, the joke is getting a little old. It's like if you had this joke, and you had fun with it, but you wanted to have a little more fun with it. So you let a bigger joke named Giancarlo inside your joke for a while.

So yeah, not just old, but distasteful.

Honestly, I'm surprised there isn't video of his wife yet

I'm just happy for once everyone involved in a preacher sex scandal were consenting adults. This is an improvement.

Nah, they already knew he had no morals.

We're all missing the most salient point here. Did the Right Honorable Reverend, Defender of the Faith, enjoy a little cream pie action after the deed was done?

Last week, Steve Bannon. This week, Jerry Falwell Jr. Same crime in each case: a promise of Trumptopia that turned out to be a massive grift.

It's funny to me that you're shocked to find out a thing that most people already knew.  I guess it's on to some other grifting messiah.

"Obviously, we see in the news everywhere. But right now, I think the students are trying to focus on what really matters, you know, growing our faith," Fischer said.

...and what better way to do that, than to practice ignoring the public hypocrisy of your faith leader!

The notion of cuckoldry does seem widespread here. It seems like the RedHats want it good and hard, and the PoolBoys are lining up to give it to them. And Trump, the Swamp-Drainer, the Wall-Builder, the Attractive and Successful Businessman? Trump just stands by and watches.

Let's not congratulate them on that quite yet. One of the more overlooked revelations that came out in the last few days:

"In a statement Tuesday, Granda accused Falwell of being a "predator," saying he'd sent Granda an image of a female Liberty University student exposing herself at their farm.

Falwell said Granda may have been referring to an incident when he and his wife were out of town. His daughters-in-law and a friend were using the family's guesthouse to cook a meal, Falwell said, and the friend pulled up her skirt, as a joke, while she was cooking. "

----------

Falwell may have liked to watch, but based on his "alpha male" mindset it makes a little more sense that he'd be okay with letting a younger man boink his wife if he was also getting some on the side. And if he was using his rockstar status and authority to sexually interfere with sheltered Liberty students who weren't exactly clear on little things like "consent" and "saying no to the male authority figures in their lives," then I wouldn't be surprised if we haven't heard the worst parts of this story yet.

That depends a lot on whether or not the sinner is a Republican. It shouldn't, but in America it does.

Oh, right, I forgot to add: If I'm thinking conspiratorially, then Falwell letting a 20-year-old boink his wife may actually be the lesser of multiple scandals that were covered up. That is speculation, of course, but if Falwell really was sending around pictures of nude or semi-nude Liberty students, it's not exactly wild, far-fetched speculation either.

Even if one existed and L.U. thought they could enforce it, there's no way Jr. didn't know all the skeletons in their closet. He likely reminded them of exactly that and confidently sat back in his chair.

A lot of "for cause" and "moral terpitude" clauses are written so narrowly that you practically need to have been convicted of a multiple homicide before the parachute isn't paid.

McD's suing to get its parachute back from the fired CEO. Not because he was using the corporate phone book like his own Tindr Menu - which he kinda was - but because he lied about it to the board. Just banging the staff was not cause.

He fixed that issue by throwing his wife under the bed bus.  His official reason for stepping down was that she had an affair he was unaware of at the time and they don't want to cause further issues for the university.

He's pond scum  (Sorry to the pond scum out there for the indirect insult)

This is a nonprofit.

I don't know the specific laws of Virginia, but the officers and directors of non-profits have fiduciary duties.  It can be hard to pin down what exactly is a violation of fiduciary duties ... but damn. I'm not sure where exactly the line is, but giving a $10 million golden parachute in return for a non-compete seems to be over that line.

Seriously -- a non-compete provision doesn't even make sense for an entity that is ostensibly not trying to make a profit.

Would love to see the State AG exhibit some gonads and go after Falwell.

If, say, the Virginia state legislature were to subpoena everyone involved and make them answer questions before a committee (I mean, this is a serious accusation of sex crimes and predatory behavior toward underage women), would that invalidate any legal standing of the NDAs?
