Cuomo has been decent through this whole thing.

Glad my state has competent leadership, even for all of its faults.

Well, this was inevitable.

2020-08-27 7:24:49 AM
Although, of course...why did it have to come to this point where we have to revolt against what used to be trusted authorities.

It's sad, and terrifying at the same time.   The damage wrought by that orange shiat stain is going to take decades to undo.

Going forward, blue states are gonna have to start doing a lot of the work formerly left to the federal government: public health monitoring, disaster preparedness, health care policy, education policy, etc. Even if (*IF*) Biden wins in November, with this country's electorate, another Trump is pretty much inevitable in my lifetime, and it would be gross negligence for the civilized states to be caught this flat-footed all over again.

I mean, this isn't really news. NY(and, by extension NJ and CT) have pretty much done their own thing throughout the pandemic. Back when Donny was still claiming it was a hoax we shut down hard and told Donny he could f*ck off.

And that taint is on everything, not just the CDC. He talks about the imaginary Obama deep state, while simultaneously creating a an actual Trump deep state.

I didn't pay attention to NY political or Cuomo before COVID, but I had seen headlines stating that he wasn't too popular. Kind of funny that all it would take to make Cuomo likeable is for Trump to Fark things up.

Demographics are changing, even if Trump managed to make sure that the census won't reflect it for another ten years.  White people won't get to elect the president after Biden.

They weren't anyway.  Patient walks into doc's office or ER, nobody involved was checking the latest CDC guidance to see how to proceed.

Has your doctor ever said to you "let me see what the CDC has to say about this and I'll get back to you"

This is another Trump scandal story that's much ado about nothing.

I am a white male. And I am fine with this. When one side radicalizes it ends up also radicalizing the other side, and the since the right is mad at our society's slow progression they have radicalized.

That being said, this is a really stupid move politically for the Trump admin.  Ultimately the guidance will have zero effect on anything.

But the optics are really bad.  that's the Trump admin in a nutshell.

I'd expect my doctor to be keeping up to date on journals and guidance from health organizations as part of being a doctor.  If my doctor wasn't doing this out of hand I'd go find a new doctor.

Grizzly, not everyone has as hard a time retaining information as you do. Generally someone who has passed a medical board exam would be able to remember what they read on a website a few days ago.

I have to say, I find it endlessly amusing that back when Donald was claiming the pandemic was a hoax, conservatives railed on Democrats for ignoring the CDC, but now that he's acknowledged it, ignoring the CDC is just business as usual.

If he gives me a diagnosis on something I ask about it and look up the information after the fact and/or am referred to a specialist and I compare what was provided there to what the initial diagnosis was.  He's also brought up changes to how they have dealt with issues based on current guidance.

Oh, and remember that Trump is exactly what the GOP has been aiming for since 1980. The only regards I'll give a "Republican against Trump" is telling them to fark off and die in a slightly more polite tone. If you really were against Trump, you would have left the GOP. If you're still in?

That's absurd.
Trump's deliberate dismantling and subversion of the CDC Obama left him is largely responsible for our abject failure in America dealing with Covid. The CDC and his buggery thereof was literally one of Trump's two or three MAJOR points of failure in this matter.

No, you wouldn't.  Despite what you may think, Texas has tried this multiple times.  And you're more dependent on the national economy than you think.  There are metric fark-tons of things that the west coast is simply not geared up to handle on their own, same as Techshas when they start this kind of talk.

Being a highly productive state is one thing, unlike OK, WV, GA or any of the other 'red' states, but being your own country is a completely different animal.

It's weird because when you drill down to why they don't like Cuomo, you don't get a clear answer.

Sometimes it's minor or vague things like "Well he's so corrupt!", "He named a bridge after himself!"

There is the Moreland commission thing that might have some merit, but even that is not quite as clear case as it might seem.

Unfortunately, it seems that many of the people shouting loudest are against him because "those people (Hasidic Jews) vote for him in a bloc," or more recently "he sent old people with COVID-19 into the nursing homes."
