g.fro: odinsposse: g.fro: Leishu: g.fro: shoegaze99: g.fro: I've said "good day" once. Do I need to say "good night" now?

How about saying nothing and just walking away?

Because unless you get off on embarrassing yourself, you're doing yourself no favors by digging in.

But if it's some kink of yours, then by all means, continue. You must be building yourself up to a wild climax, because yeesh, watching this has been cringe-inducing.

I had walked away. Little-miss-gender-studies-degree got it going again.

But this is getting rather boring.

I wasn't tagging you or anything, but a discussion on why your post was dumb was and is merited.

So does that mean we're done here?

Yes, you finally get to pretend that you're just so bored of being shown you're wrong and these nerds with their pleas for you to google the basic subject you're discussing are totally defeated by your boredom.

Dude, I don't know what you think you're wining? I disagree with you idiots making up your own words. So what? I'm not going to stop you, And I'm not going to stop thinking you're idiots every time I hear someone use the word. Which so far has only been from a white person who never got any closer to a Latin person than their housekeeper. So you're free to use your made-up words, and I'm free to dismiss you.

Great job of dismissing you're doing there, man.

g.fro: flondrix: g.fro: The part you bolded is in reference to the idea being pushed that the Spanish language (and I guess all other Romance language) is deficient because it has two genders. The idea that people from outside a culture trying to dictate how that culture should change to better suit the outsides, is somehow respectful, which is patently absurd.

In grad school I ran into one guy from Spain who was teaching Spanish, and whose English-speaking students were constantly objecting to the use of gender pronouns in Spanish.  This was before transgender and genderfluid pronoun issues had come to public awareness; it was over things like how one referred to a group of men and women--Spanish has grammatical rules about that.  Heaven forbid any of these students would major in anthropology and go observe another culture someday.  (The term "snowflake" was not yet in use either.)

I have heard way too many new alternative pronouns invented by English speaking people who clearly do not understand that once they venture beyond English, a new gender pronoun means also devising versions of that pronoun, along with definite and indefinite articles, for every grammatical case (and there may be a lot of them), new conjugations for every verb, etc., and revising an entire nation's textbooks accordingly.  Inventing new gender pronouns as if it were no big deal shows that one is unaware of one's Anglocentric privilege, much like the people who can't understand why other folks don't just co-operate with the police and everything will be fine.

They/them as singular pronouns have been part of English for centuries; they are not "neuter" so much as "unspecified" and should cover anybody who does not wish to be referred to a he/him or she/her.  Another thing that English lacks is gender in the first or second person, simplifying things further compared to most other languages.

/Yes, English does conjugate its verbs, but not very much, and not by gender.  Also, we don't assign gend ...

If you really want this discussion to end, you should really consider not repeatedly doubling down on your idiocy.

Inventing new gender pronouns as if it were no big deal shows that one is unaware of one's Anglocentric privilege

Or,
it shows that they understand - and followe here - that the pronouns that they are inventing are meant to be used IN ENGLISH, and so the rest of your wankery doesn't apply at all.

Or do you know of a bunch of people that I don't that are demanding that we use "xe" and "xim" in Coptic and Farsi? Is this another Esperanto thing I don't know about??

You're conflating Republicanism with Authoritarianism, though the two have been merging for at least the last 30 years.

If you stop being friends with someone simply because they're a Republican or a Democrat, you're just an asshole.  That's all there is to it, it's an easy rule to live by.

Now, if they're really out there, and are committed communists or Nazis or something of that ilk, that's a bit different.

Wow.  Did you really just called transgender and nonbinary people privileged because they ... used their own language to find new ways to describe themselves?  Go fark yourself.

I think that's less about Republicans being racist and more about them being overwhelmingly anti-mask.

They're making it really, really hard to prove otherwise:

I guess I've sort of PRE-shunned these slugs by not knowing any Rapethuglicants in the first place. I won't be even casual acquaintances with a MAGAt, let alone friends.

I don't have Facebook or Twitter and I don't want them.

All of our families are dead except for hubby's sister, with whom we don't have much contact anyway because we severely dislike her husband and it's best for that man's continued health if my husband stays away from him.

Hubby doesn't know any of them, either, and the one person at work he found out was a MAGAt in casual conversation, the guy fills the vending machines and they happened to meet there one afternoon, he's avoided ever since.

As for in the wild, I never leave the house since COVID and hubby only goes to work and the grocery store/gas station and he says that everyone is always wearing masks, so our area must be free from MAGAs generally. Oh! There was one woman at the grocery store last weekend that he said wasn't wearing a mask in the store and he kept well away from her. I'm kind of annoyed that the store didn't kick her out. We may need to shop at another store if it happens again.

It's a b flat. A very flat b flat, so to speak. the perspective and the jacked up bell just makes the body look a little shorter than it really is, I think.

And anyway man, Dizzy Gillespie would like a word with you...

Wow that's in bad shape.  Yeah, it's B flat, from the other angle it looked like that first curve was short like a C.

Definitely an old one too.  Might want to look into whether it's collectible.

I know this is late to the thread, but I wanted to tell you that, after you posted these before in another thread, I got up and told my mom (65 this year and living with my daughter and me) how glad I was that she wasn't a farking nutroll. We don't always agree exactly politically about every issue, but she is in general as or more liberal than I am, and I am so glad she is not like this. I don't know what I'd do if she was, and I am deeply, truly sorry you have to deal with all of that.

I haven't seen it used before a couple years ago. I've seen it used as a singular collective as in one single group of people, but never as one individual. It's a fairly new usage to me and I can't seem to get used to it.
