The accusations of hyperbole are something of an admission of guilt. When conservatives try to dismiss liberal anger as hyperbolic they usually imply "hey, we made up all sorts of crap to be mad at Obama about that wasn't real. Remember when we pretended to be so mad when he golfed? It's clear you guys are doing the same thing. Both sides, am I right?"

But they can't understand that the left and right aren't the same and the left hasn't normalized the fatalistic loyalty the right has. So the right is far more free to simply lie to people because even if their supporters know they are lying, know they are being stolen from, know they are being taken advantage of, if it's from someone on their side they gladly accept it.

For those curious, the picture of the shrine wall is from the grandmothers house, Who until a few years ago, was a NY born, moved to FL Democrat.

That was until the Fox nation attacked. 

My Mother built the shrine for her, and helped her decorate with those oh so lovely other things. 

You'll note in the first picture, Grandpa's flag is at the bottom, it has been on the mantel for decades until my mother got her hands on it for the TRUMPINFURER Shrine. 

Then his flag went to the bottom, surrounded by Icons of a man who never served..

In the later picture, the clear one you see, its up higher now, as I lost my shiat one year and brought that subject up (Grandpa was a lifelong Democrat) 

Now its a little higher up on the shrine, still surrounded by Trump Icons. 

I haven't been back to visit my mother or grandmother in over a year and changed, The most contact Ive had was to mail them some masks.

But he's right. The Spanish language has two genders. This is just an attempt by mostly white liberals to shoehorn a neuter gender into Spanish as an exercise in performative wokeness. To me, it feels a bit like appropriation. We don't turn "Chicano" into "Chicanx," so why do it to "Latino."

I'm very conscious of the words I use to describe people. I use "aboriginal" or "First Nations" instead of "Indian" or "Native American." "Latinx" just feels contrived to me. I don't see the point.

People can believe a lot of stupid shiat, but there are certain 'politics' that are non-negotiable.

Once their 'political beliefs' start translating into a full on hard-on for nazism/whatever ideologies and it is obvious that you obviously don't consider your fellow humans equals, it becomes absolutely impossible to think of you as a half-way decent human being, and that's it.

A couple years ago went to a fiend's wedding.  Another friend and his wife were invited too because, we were all friends at one point and the newlyweds bought a house a few blocks away from them. The 'what was at one time 2 people in our friends circle that we knew were very republican leaning' slid way way down into Trumperville. No one sat by them. No one really talked to them besides a 'hi'. Just shunned from most of us.

The Trumper couple left not long after dinner. The rest of us had a fun night of drinkin' and dancing celebrating the newlyweds.

I haven't been in contact with the ex-friends since. Very freeing. I don't think anyone else does anymore.

I went no-contact with my very Republican, very Baptist family last year. Not because of Trump, but because of a lot of other shiat that just happens to coincide with being awful people, which just happens to coincide with Trumpkins.

If I'm ever tempted to extend an olive branch or what have you, I just remember that they were die-hard Trumpkins as late as November of last year, and even though I haven't spoken to any of them recently, I would bet every dollar I have that they still are. And it settles that internal debate right away. Easiest decision ever.

Eh, I find one is all you need. Even if you are partially illiterate like me. I just find it weird that so many folks seemingly conversate on subjects guaranteed to rile people up. Maybe I worked in bars too long, but I avoid religion and politics as a matter of habit. I'm in California anyway, doesn't really matter how I vote so I've always,always voted third party, I'm pretty sure a candidate I've voted for has never won anything.

I lost contact with all of them when I left Facebook.   The friends I have that stay in touch with the Trumpers are now hooked on the Facebook misery cycle of outrage and arguement.  I told them my tome is worth more than that.

I've also told them that if they invite Trumpers then I will offer no quarter.  I sat back for close to a decadej having to hear about "birth cercificets " and "soshalism" and "Kenyan usurper", while people told me "Jist be quiet and they'll get over it".  Well, look where the f*ck that got us.  I don't want to know these people, and I'm embarrassed for them, and if my friends won't help me avoid their idiocy then I sure as hell won't tolerate it anymore.

I work for a linguistics department. So I am really getting a kick out of most of these replies. Some of you guys are very good at making it sound like you know what you are talking about. But trust me.... You don't. I think you just want to make yourself sound smart, when in reality you dont know what you are talking about. This is how bad info gets passed around. alto_reed_on_a_tenor_sax: I went no-contact with my very Republican, very Baptist family last year. Not because of Trump, but because of a lot of other shiat that just happens to coincide with being awful people, which just happens to coincide with Trumpkins.

If I'm ever tempted to extend an olive branch or what have you, I just remember that they were die-hard Trumpkins as late as November of last year, and even though I haven't spoken to any of them recently, I would bet every dollar I have that they still are. And it settles that internal debate right away. Easiest decision ever.
