You know sometimes you should consider the perception you create and that for others, their perception is also their reality.  That and because you can, doesn't mean you should.

Secretaries of State traditionally do not engage in politics. But Pompey Boy wants to be the 2024 poster child, so here we are.

That's a joke headline, right?

That's just what we expect someone who will violate the Hatch Act to say.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems to me that when a government official is in temporary duty status (TDY) overseas, they are ALWAYS on duty.  If the U.S. Government is paying your lodging and your meals and incidental expenses, doesn't that put you in an official capacity 24/7 for the duration of your TDY?  Or, is Secretary Pompei going to forgo his per diem allowances, pay for his airfare out-of-pocket, and just call this a "leave in conjunction with TDY"?

Why do I have a feeling that it was unpaid intern all along that was intentionally sinking Der Tumpenfuhrer?

Heavens! Imagine if a Republican contravened the Hatch Act! What a kerfuffle would ensue!

To be honest, this is normal (for 2020 at least), and honestly relatively low on the list of Trump administration Hatch violations which are themselves fairly low on the list of atrocities and crimes this administration has committed. Tape it, throw in in the drawer at the bottom of the filing cabinet at the back of the room of evidence.

"The State Department will not bear any costs in conjunction with this appearance.""

"Four teams of lawyers, including the State Department legal counsel, have reviewed the speech"

Meanwhile Trump is accepting the nomination at the White House.

I assumed they work pro bono.

Oh good, more "concern."  This concern seems about as useful as that "exposure" people keep trying to pay me with.

Good point. I'm not saying don't use it, just that I'm pretty ho-hum about it in terms of being angry or in terms of the damage it causes.

The only thing that will happen is that it will be thrown on that very large pile ..

Remember Hillary's big speech at the DNC when Obama was nominated for the second time?  No?  That's because she was Secretary of State and can not be at political events like conventions.

I think it only counts as pro-bono if you know it beforehand.

Guys / gals:

If I may, remember this is chess. Pompeii has higher political aspirations, regardless of what you may think of him. Reagan and Obama showed that the RNC / DNC is a good launching point for higher office.

Now, I'm not saying the Republicans can PLAY chess, or even set the board up right, but that's my take on this.

Pardon me but have you any Grey Poupon? It's for my Cheez Berder. Now more Cheezy with Goya Trump Brandeded Con Queso Cheez Fud.

To quote PM Brian Mulroney, "There's no whore like an old whore." He really sad that, my Yankee Brethren and Sistern.  You can say the H-word and drop the F-bomb in Canada, but not in Parliament for some reason. Parliamentary rules, OK?

I laughed, but anyone who doesn't know to get pay from Trump in advance deserves what's coming.
