(CBS Sports)   James Franklin has no idea what went into the thought process of the Big Ten cancelling fall football and would like an explanation. Well, Franklin, now you know how everybody felt about your 4th and 5 call after two timeouts   (cbssports.com) divider line

"It was working ... then all [of a] sudden it changes and you weren't  a part of the conversation and you didn't understand why"

Translation: We stuck to our fantasy in spite of the stark reality, and then everyone else stopped paying attention to us.

Your failure to understand is the reason why, coach.

Just do a quick search for news stories including the terms "university Covid outbreak" and the answer is obviously apparent.

Let's be clear on this, Mr. Franklin:

* Some of your players and coaches are going to catch COVID.
* More of your players and coaches are going to catch COVID if you play games than if you don't.
* Some of your players and coaches who catch COVID will end up hospitalized. A small handful may die in the hospital surrounded by none of their loved ones.
* Some of your players and coaches who catch COVID will end up becoming "long-haulers" with sequelae like myocarditis, pulmonary fibrosis, neurological aftereffects of strokes, and ICU delirium if they happen to be unlucky enough to need a ventilator to survive

That's what went into the thought process of the Big Ten postponing football until the spring.

These coaches live by an Invalid's Code!  Something you could never understand....

You forgot the most important part of said student-athlete's family will lawyer up and sue the school worse than the Sandusky families if their child dies.

The commissioner of the Big 10 has a  son at Ole Miss who is preparing to play football as we speak.

So? He has no power over what the SEC does. I suppose he could yank his son, a person who is a legal adult and free to make their own (exceptionally stupid) choices, out of school while citing the coronavirus. I don't know too many people who are doing that to their college-age children.

He just makes the decisions for everybody elses kid. But not his own

I suspect more thought went into that call than Jimmy Clausen's entire 2007 game at Penn State.

\remember seeing the last play before halftime - when he went for a 5 yard pass deep in his own territory - and thinking it was gonna be a long season
\\and I was right
\\\how the fark Weis kept his job after that year is beyond me

They were probably worried how he would react when they started using big words

I bet he wishes he could have convinced his son to sit out the season now that news has broken of Ole Miss having thirteen athletes test positive for COVID.
