This is your police advocating vigilante action.

Throw the book at him.

But I too would have stomped him into a mud puddle.

Weird. Cameras cut out just before the guy stomped himself into a mud puddle. Nobody saw anything.

The man approached the outside of the girl's room, touched a window grill on the outside and appeared "to be contemplating on how to get around the grill," the report stated.

Yeah, I'm ok with him going away for a while.

Straight, 50, of Navarre, was arrested Sunday and charged with trespassing and aggravated stalking of a victim under the age of 12.

But hey, if there's grass on the field...

I'd be more concerned with a police department that would take the creeps side in that situation.

Also, I don't know much about Florida "law", but are there different age tiers for stalking? They say he was charged with stalking a victim under the age of 12, but does it become just regular stalking after 12, or is there a middle tier between 12 and adult? Or is it just a way to identify him as extra creepy?

I haven't heard that in ages...well, the version I grew up listening to my grandfather say was "No grass on the field? Flip 'er over and play in the mud."

Years later, we found out my grandfather molested several of the grandkids.

morg: Police: Hey, we're cool with vigilantism. Until we're not. So take your chances, I guess.

If it's on your own property, it's not vigilantism.  It's defense.

In some states, that's a perfectly legal option.  Castle doctrine, or whatnot.

Apocryphal story goes, in Texas, a man calls police, "There's a suspicious man on my property!"

Dispatcher replies, "Why are you calling us now?  Shoot him, THEN call us."

How is it the article is actually more horrific than the headline in this case? Dude took the screen out of the 7 year old's window multiple times and had the girl model her Halloween costume. I was all about to biatch about the Police comments, but fark that...everyone should go elephant on that guy.

Like any DA would have prosecuted that dad for beating the crap out of that guy if it had come to that.

"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury, I intend to show... and they've already acquitted him... and now they're lining up give him high fives... this did not go as planned."

Csb: a friend of mine was on a local party island a bit ago, and apparently some asshole was calling a black guy n-word. The black guy confronted him and ultimately assaulted him, ended up punching the guy's son in the nose when the son was defending his racist ass dad.

The county marine division showed up, and told the racist and his son to GTFO the island, STFU, and took no action against the assaultive African American, because they felt he was in the right. They had the drunk klansman's boat towed, dropped him off on land and told him to get farked.

I don't support violence against speech, but I definitely understand it sometimes.

I like my local piggies. They aren't the fun police and pretty much let us river rats police our own shiat out there. Smaller cities and communities definitely have their benefits. There have been a handful of scuffles out there and the community as a whole always looks out for one another. Maybe it's a boating thing.

You don't need any doctrine here.

While the man didn't make it to the point of physically assaulting the daughter, it would be easy enough to articulate that it was a likely and predictable next step. I mean, you probably couldn't get away with literally beating him to death, but force would definitely be justified.

You don't have to wait until someone's fist hits a face to defend yourself or others. Clear pre-assaultive indicators and intent are sufficient.

csb: one of the first times my wife and I went to People's Park in Spokane, a nude beach back then, we encountered a group of nude men running through the park. They said they were looking for a flasher. "We may be wierdos but we're not perverts," said one, as they ran on.

Condone the stomping? Heck I would have joined in.
I just disagree that the cops should be saying something like this.
At least set up a reporter friend to ask the question and reply with a "no comment" and exaggerated wink.

Beating the tar out of a middle aged naked man trespassing on your property, trying to get into your 7 year old kid's bedroom isn't vigilante justice, it's something called "exactly what should happen".

"Why you all got to advocate violence against this poor, misunderstood man?"

I think that if I had told a creepy neighbour to stay away from my child already, and he showed up naked in my garden, talking to her and trying to open her window, I would have found it very difficult not to resort to my base nature.

They are advocating for defense of an innocent third party.

While I abhor violence and the death penalty, I wouldn't vote to convict the parents for anything that happened to the guy in the commission of his crime.
