Yeah, Georgia Republicans know about her and said, "Yep, that's who represents our values."  The state as a whole will do the same.  Because Georgia is full of semi-literate, religion-addled bigots.

/Now I get to sit back while people from Georgia lambast me for saying it, even as their state elects this f*cking semi-literate, religion-addled bigot to represent them in Congress.

She said that she wanted to "let them know what our law says that you can't swear in on the Quran. So we're going to explain to that. You know, we're going to explain about how you can't swear in on the Quran and we're going to have the Bible and ask them if they would swear in on the Bible." She added: "When they swore in, it wasn't a law yet, right? ... I think at the time they swore in that wasn't passed, because it wouldn't have been passed in a Republican-controlled -- yeah, so it was passed after they swore in, so they're not really official, I don't think. So, let's go ask them to swear in the Bible."

You don't have to swear on anything.  You can affirm.  Plus do you really think your "God" wants you to use his name as a surety?

Here's the thing.  Qanon and those that follow do not believe in the whole Freedom of Religion thing.  They believe that Christianity is the only religion.  They believe that THEY need to be respected.  But that does not mean that anyone else gets that same right.

So any arguments about that, even if they are written into the Constitution, don't matter to them.  So you will never win that argument, except in court.  And to the general population, that doesn't mean anything either.

Isn't it great knowing we'll have lucid, rational, well-adjusted folks running things after Trump gets booted. The sad part is that we're electing people fully aware their worldview is skewed through the Q filter. These are the people we're electing to speak for us and our interests. It's a shameful time for this country.

I feel profoundly sorry for the apparently extremely small minority of Christians who actually want to live the values of their faith in and express their joy and gratitude for existence in a community of kindness and compassion.

People like this woman are why I have so many unpleasant things to say about religious people.

That our Constitution does not require a religious test for public service is well covered here, and that's the important side of the argument.

For fun, let's look at the Christian side of the argument.

"I say to you, do not take an oath at all, either by heaven, for it is the throne of God, or by the earth, for it is his footstool, or by Jerusalem, for it is the city of the great King."
- Matthew 5:33-37

oh.  right.  Christians shouldn't swear on the Bible either.
