So a decision that immediately and profoundly effected the lives of people in the region and the standing of the U.S. around the world was made "for the Evangelicals." Have they accepted any responsibility for the consequences?

He actually said he moved the capital of Israel, which is a lot more impressive than just moving an embassy.

It's a dig at Sheldon Adelson.

This was Adelson's main demand. But Adelson has been tight-fisted with Trump's fundraising.

So Trump is whinjng for money here.

Any "consequences" are God's will and thus part of His plan.  Not mere mortals problems...  Like in Iraq

Jokes on their wicked asses, they'll be the easiest to catch and cook due to their stupidity.

The US embassy in Jerusalem is just a sitting duck for a terrorist attack. I'm never going there unless I have to.

(The consulate in Tel Aviv can do almost everything US citizens need.)

He moved the "capital" to please the Evangelicals because they believe it will being the world one step closer to Armageddon and they will be the first up when Sweet Baby Jeebus starts The Hoover.  I mean, The Rapture.

Trump biatched just the other day about Biden's observation that the African-American population is relatively politically homogenous was massively racist.

Now he wants to biatch that not enough US Jews are sufficiently Zionist?

What a massively racist farkwit who can't extend the same courtesy to the US Jewish population that he demands his opponent provide the African American population. But we already knew that.

This brings up one of Donnie's most racist quotes where he insults not one but TWO racial groups:

"Black guys counting my money! I hate it. The only kinds of people I want counting my money are short guys that wear yarmulkes every day... I think that the [black] guy is lazy. And it's probably not his fault, because laziness is a trait in blacks. It really is."

Having armageddon happen would almost be worth it to see the look on their faces when the rapture doesn't happen and they have to live through the hell they created along with the rest of us.

I've got a Christian relative who always thinks we're in the End Times.

Massive flooding in parts of the US? Jesus is coming soon!
Y2K? Jesus is coming soon!
Some random war in the Middle East? Jesus is coming soon!
"Blood moon"? Jesus is coming soon!
Coronavirus? Jesus is coming soon!

I just want to grab her, shake her, and yell, "Jesus is never coming back! Don't you see that by now?"

Not that I'm biased.

The rapture has already happened.  The chosen have left.  And here you are.  Shall we try to make what's left of the world a better place?

Even if the "end times" was a real thing, why are the believers so arrogant as to think they're the ones living through it?  It could be 50,000 years from now for all they know.

They seem to be selfish enough that they want the world to end, forever, if it means they can get into Heaven without dying.

My aunt gushes over this guy. She talks about prophecies and the bible and how trump is right there, written in gods own hand. I said, did you ever think this guy did it just to get people like you to vote for him, instead of some mysterious prophecy? She will no longer speak to me. Can't say that's a great loss for me.

My first wife had an uncle and aunt who would stop by and visit the family every so often. They followed Billy Graham around everywhere he went. They hinged on his every word as if Jesus himself was speaking through Graham. All they would talk about when visiting is about serving Graham. They had a relatively successful hardware business and funnelled money from it to Graham. They volunteered at every turn to serve his needs.
To each his own, but they were weird and creeped me out every visit.

Yeah, the nutters think that when Iran nukes Israel, Jesus will come down. That is why they provoke Iran. They are looking forward to this, but unsurprisingly, the idea is less popular in Israel.

Don't forget that in their version of the Apocalypse, the opening bell for the End Times and the Rapture is the utter destruction of Israel "by fire" and all Jews being wiped out except for the 144,000 "good ones" who mass convert to Christianity right before the big firework.  So evangelical "support" for Israel comes with the caveat that they are hoping to bring about it's utter destruction and a literal Holocaust

Gog I think is supposed to be Syria, and Magog was located somewhere in the Russian steppe, so for the prophecy to come "true" Russia and Syria would have to be allies, and how likely is THAT?

Remember when Evangelicals thought politics was dirty?  Okay, I don't... I was a bit too young... but here's an interesting tidbit from 1979:
Paul Weyrich, who claims to be a conservative, stated: "We are no longer working to preserve the status quo. We are working to overturn the present power structure in this country." Weyrich described his views as "Maoist."  He said that you have to control the countryside and the capital will eventually fall. He advocated no-holds-barred tactics.  Their vision includes a government that would be charged with enforcing religious policy in order to prevent the ultimate dissolution of society caused by sin. Culture could be changed more effectively through politicizing and propagandizing religion than through any other method.

That they are living in the "end times" has been a staple of Christian belief since before revelations was even written.  Any credibility I might be inclined to give the teachings of Paul for instance is seriously undercut by the fact that he fervently believed Jesus would be back in just a couple of years so he wasn't really creating a religion built for the long haul.  Most of Christianity's farked up views on sexuality for example, Come from the fact that A) Paul himself was almost certainly gay (and self-hating)  and B) since Jesus was due back any minute to wipe out the earth, what was the point of having kids? (thus he urged celibacy, and THAT stuck even as his basis for urging it was obviously wrong).

Ever since Christians have always been convinced "The end Times" are upon them even if their "prophecies" about them are a mish-mash of an Old Testament writings , some of which aren't even IN the Protestant Bible (parts of the book of Daniel) and Revelations, which, the author tells you right up front, he was straight trippin when he wrote.

I think those guys who believe Israel should not exist because we haven't had the second coming yet, which is a requirement for its existence according to scripture, are starting to look like reasonable people these days.

The religious Jews joined evangelicals in voting for Sideshow Bob because while they might have disagreed with his Bart killing policy, they did agree with his Selma killing policy.
