He was instrumental in preserving the theater.  It was nearly torn down in the 70s. Atlanta tears everything down. It's what happens when the entire history of a city is only 160 years.  Not counting when it was a trading post at the confluence of Peachtree Creek and the river.

Last time I was there, I got to watch Colonel Bruce Hampton die on stage. Literally. It'll be a while before I can go back in there. He was one of my heroes.
