It will be weird to look back on this era and notice that almost no actual new policies were even really debated, let alone enacted. And the government pretty much stopped governing.

Living through this has been enraging, but every fight has been an effort to stop the next crazy thing from happening. But we were never able to shut off the fire-hose of next crazy things. I am exhausted and dismayed.

I hope that it stops soon. There are actual policies to debate and enact, and there's a whole country in need of some governing. We will see, I guess.

OneTrump learned from Bastard Lawyer Roy Cohn.

Despite what we were taught, the Government does not have infinite time, money, or manpower to deal with everything.  Cohn explained that if Trump threw lawyers started any problems, to delay, delay, delay...Government would settle for a lesser fine, charge or just give up.

Just his personal, probusiness policies done by executive order. He has crippled environmental protection, for example. Maybe Biden can get creative with the executive orders and reverse this shiat quickly. He should write one that demands property forfeitures for all impeached presidents with orange makeup

It's only mid-August.  We haven't gotten to serious election campaigning, the election itself, of the post-election world.  I'm heavily invested in torches, pitchforks, poster board, and sharpie futures.

Secret?
It's known all over the world that he wastes everyone's time.
Everything he does or says is a waste of time.
Trump* is the living, breathing waste of time incarnate.

There are a number of folks that had their time literally wasted to their deaths by him.  I'm pretty sure the mail delays of medicine haven't come without fatalities.  The delay in addressing Russian bounties on U.S. military likely encouraged more taking of those bounties.  The delay that will come as we try to get our environmental regulations back in order will likely result in various cancers and other maladies that were utterly preventable.

There was something else that cost lives because of entirely stupid delays... something about a big disease or something... meh... probably not important.  Only 170,000 dead so far, no biggie, right?

Every day he wastes mine.

Press conference at 5:30pm!

Doesn't show up until much later. And then proceeds to waste even more of time.

I never thought I'd say this. I'd rather be employed.

I put in for my mail in ballot weeks ago...dropped at town clerk's office....now even I'm doubting the post office's ability to get my ballot in on time.  Luckily thus year we have election day off.

Same. I reached out to my clerk and asked when they will mail them. 40 days before election. So im expecting 10 days to go 2 blocks, fill it, and drop box it about 30 days early.

Newt promoter the "all out full press" strategy after Bill Clinton was elected. They were humiliated by GHW Bush losing after the gulf war that they decided to play that way.
Mc Connell is a disciple of that as well.

yep....it is variation of the Gish Gallop - flood the zone with idiocy which makes people waste time arguing against lunatic ideas that would never work. With everyone chasing their tails, pull some other stunt that goes unnoticed and set up the next distraction. Lather, rinse repeat. People fall for it - _every_single_time_.

This is exactly what has been happening with the USPS debacle.

I wish that were true. While it is true not much new stuff got done, he and his appointees have done a great job of dismantling/sabotaging/ending vast swaths of governing institutions, their policies and their career staff

Due to who he has hired and who he has fired, a ton of governing has been occurring across the board, just not often directly through the house or senate

Pick any institution now headed up by one of some industry-insider millionaire/billionaire and you'll find more governing than one can stomach

You're confusing "governing" - running a public entity via political processes , with running government like a sole-proprietor owned business, which is how trump runs things.
He doesn't care for the political  governing process, and when he's tried to use it he failed immensely.
There's little proof that he's successful as a sole proprietor too.

This is just the tee up for when the climate crisis is out of control.  Nazis wasted everyone's time when we needed to be addressing extinction level issues but we are gearing up for a civil war that will likely ensure no country survives the crisis intact.

I think bringing back public hangings would be a better idea. Ammo is expensive these days, and we wouldn't want to leave our children with that kind of financial burden.

We need Congress to cripple the Imperial Presidency. Except during wars and national emergencies declared by Congress, the President should have only his power of veto. During war, he is CinC and needs things like EOs, but they should expire w/in 1 yr after the war/whatever ends. No EOs in peacetime. Our Founding Father's (Adams notwithstanding) did not want kings. Give the CinC balls in war, otherwise emasculate the presidency. It is too powerful.

That is pretty much all he does.  He clogs the news cycles so that every time there is something to be done, we are too busy talking about the last thing that happened.  And he consistently does this.

The biggest one last week was touting that he brought peace to the middle east again.  Not only did it keep the news cycles occupied, it got him some good support from people who think that was important.  And it turned out not being true.

All that time wasted.

We never get the chance to get even one situation under control before he creates another one that demands just as much attention.

I look forward to the days when I can take a yearly vacation just to piss on his grave.

Time has been weird these last few months. It feels like it both hasn't passed but is also taking an eternity.

Like stuff early this year and late last year feels like it happened a looooong time ago, but somehow the intervening time has all merged together into a single amorphous blob of time.
