Have to strongly disagree.  The USPS has protections that private carriers don't.  Messing with US mail is a federal offense.  UPS can bring my my goodies but I do NOT want them involved in ballots.

I agree that there would be problems with that but....one of those problems would probably not be open sabotage.

Nope, because they can't postmark something you drop off to at a ballot drop box.
/Doesn't matter when you mailed it, only that they received it on time.

I'm certain that there's a reasonable, legal, and not-at-all corrupt explanation for this.
I'm also certain that these were removed from a demographically diverse set of locations, and not from primarily democratic-leaning and POC-heavy locations.

I'll just sit here and hold my breath while I await confirmation of these assertions.

That depends on the state.

States that use pre-paid bulk postage don't get a postmark, so they must be in the hands of election officials by the time polls close. There are court cases trying to extend that date because of USPS f*ckery

Other states don't provide postage, so they allow ballots to be received for a period of time post-election as long as they were postmarked by the mailing deadline..

Only a USPS postmark is valid.  Use of couriers invalidates your vote.

No USPS, no mail in voting.

Get angry.  Get loud.  Get this fixed.

A list of the USPS Board of Governors can be found with a quick search (not sure if posting that here would be doxxing, so I'm not ).

We can already see how this is going to work. Poll sites will be consolidated. In majority minority areas, heavy police/ICE/CBP/DHS presence will be localized around the few remaining polling sites. The lines will be spaced with enforced distancing, and lines will reach back for miles. Poll closing time will be strongly enforced "for public safety". Riots will be triggered by instigators to disperse the "unlawful" crowds as soon as the polls close..

Where/when was the photo taken? Not much context.  Could be a postal service storage area.

Could be in New Jersey too.

To clarify, by joking, I mean that contacting them would have any effect. Every single one of them was appointed by Trump. There were also "sudden resignation" shenanigans last year and this year that left them w/o a quorum, thus enabling DeJoy to instigate policies unilaterally.

Reminding them that election interference can have state charges that cannot be vacated by a D2S pardon might help sharpen attention.

But, hey.  Elections, right?  Both sides are bad.  Your vote won't make a difference.

So it's gettin' rigged this time.  Big deal.

Whatdyagonna do?

In no forum have I ever stated such a claim.

FYI, DeJoy has a protest outside his house right now, so maybe posting the addresses isn't that off base.

My understanding is that in effect, they're legally prohibited to do so. Absentee ballots must be postmarked, and a lot of states prohibit anyone beside the absentee voter from depositing with the USPS the ballot on the voter's behalf.

(Except for absentee voters who request voting assistance, whose assistant may perform such deposit.)

OK, but they are turning off hundred of mail sorting machines all over the country as well.
This is a multi pronged approach to rig the election.

My mailbox at my condos does not accept outgoing mail.  Not only can I not leave mail in my mailbox to be picked up, there isn't even a drop box for outgoing.  To send mail I *have* to use a blue box, the closest of which is about a mile away.

2020-08-15 3:55:55 PM
So when do postal workers begin refusing illegal orders?

Or is that not a thing they can do?

Do they need to be reminded that "Just obeying orders" is not a defense?

Herb Utsmelz: Um, mail-in ballots are only sent to registered voters, all of whom are required to have a mailing address. If you have a mailing address, you have access to a mailbox. Quit farking panicking.

Hey. Don't know if you know this, but it's not just the removal of mailboxes that's a problem. It's the removal of hundreds of mail sorting machines all over the country. You see, the USPS is expecting a lot more mail this year than they normally get because of mail-in votes. If they can't process them fast enough, they may not be counted. Which would be a huge farking problem. I'm sure you understand that. So, the removal of physical mailboxes is but one thing any American with an IQ in the double-digits should be worried about.

10 more days until we find out if the NFAC is either satisfied with the states response to look into the murder of Brenna Taylor or if they decide to carry out their threat to burn the city of Louisville KY to the ground.

/In some places, the rioting never stopped.

2020-08-15 3:59:11 PM

iheartscotch: If UPS and FedEx were smart, they'd guarantee delivery of any ballot dropped off with them.

Illegal.

A mail in ballot must be post marked and only USPS can do that.

If FedEx or UPS did it they would be ballot harvesting and busted.

Herb Utsmelz: Um, mail-in ballots are only sent to registered voters, all of whom are required to have a mailing address. If you have a mailing address, you have access to a mailbox. Quit farking panicking.

And there's no reason why you would want to put your sensitive mail in a drop box that only the postal service can open, instead of say, just putting it in your mailbox where any yahoo off the street can grab it. No reason at all.

As a regular absentee voter (I travel a lot for work), I have always used the postal box to mail my ballot.

Which, as I'm in a deep blue area, I expect that the nearest mailbox has probably wandered off at this point. Just a hunch.

A question from a non-American living far away who only follows this stuff on the news and fark and so on:

Can they steal the election? I mean, will someone clarify. I'm not talking an Al Gore situation, I am talking all this mail ballot stuff and so on, voter suppression and whatever. Will they succeed, or is there no way of knowing until it's all over?
