JulieAzel626: Oh, I'm sure William Barr will get right on that.

Yeah we'll probably have to wait until next year if all goes well.

Those guys? lie?

The Mueller report did not find definitive proof of collusion. It did, however, find copious evidence of Russian efforts to interfere in a US presidential election, multiple contacts with the Trump campaign by said Russians, and enough obstruction of justice to send multiple people to prison. Not the President, though, since he literally claims that he cannot he prosecuted for anything and so Mueller decided that he was just going to roll with that.

The Mueller Report. Definitive proof that reality has forsaken us and that we all now live in the fever dreams of a brain damaged hillbilly somewhere in the Appalachians.

The DOJ is the President's personal legal service, until such time as it ain't no more.

I think even helen keller could have seen that coming...

Fairly incredible for a Republican controlled committee to make this referral.

This should be major news.

We would save a lot of headlines if we just talked about right wingers when they told the truth or were honest. Which is so close to never that it might as well be never.

Should be, but won't because Trump is running a Gish Gallop of shady shiat.  Simply have so many scandals, outrages and assorted farkery that nobody can focus on any single one- by the time anything happens here there's been Avogadro's number of other horrible things.

The Democrats should try a similar strategy if they get both sides of Congress and the Presidency.  Pass so much legislation, so fast that even Fox News won't be able to devote more than a few minutes to anything specific.

Yep. Nuke the filibuster (or at least require one of the slimy old farks to ACTUALLY filibuster if they want to stop a bill), pass everything they can, tell the Republicans to go sit and spin.

Democrats need to go scorched Earth on the GOP, if we're ever going to make any progress in cleaning up their mess.

Everyone knew that Trump & Co. were all lying, obfuscating, covering up, etc - anybody with a shred of intelligence could see, especially with the emergent foreign policy actions at the time.

Trump was mark - he was always, and remains - the mark.

Sigh...

Three and a half years of this s***. Lie after lie in. Law after law being broken. It's all bulshiat at this point. The only way out of this is to get Biden in power. And at that point, Biden better have the balls to bring the hammer down hard. There needs to be multiple-year prison terms for the lot of these assholes.

Which is why they simply cannot afford to lose the election, and nothing, nothing, however illegal, immoral, or obvious will stop them. The question is, what are honest Americans going to do?

Conspiracy != collusion. "Collusion" is something Trump made up to distract from his crimes.

Once Biden is in office the DOJ will be overrun with requests to investigate him for things ranging from, "HE PUT HIS SALAD FORK ON THE WRONG SIDE," to "HE ONLY WASHED HIS HANDS FOR 12 SECONDS IN THE BATHROOM, I COUNTED!!!"

2020-08-15 8:51:27 AM
/Reads article, scans comments. Huh.

The real story here is that the Senate Intelligence Committee referred them for prosecution. Let me restate that, the Republican lead committee w/ a bipartisan effort made the referral. If Barr takes up the investigation and white washes it, then Barr will be the next investigation target, after he is out of office. (in a dream scenario Barr gets impeached over this before January.) If Barr declines to investigate, Barr is again a target.

This also signals the rats fleeing the ship, granted the senate intel R's were not the most ardent Trump supporters (by and large), still it is the start of a (possible) rout.

/ Just as some sick burn on twitter does not actually destroy someone, neither does stopping a single investigation. Bureaucracies are like that, many heads w/ many axes to grind.
// That is why Mueller subdivided the case, to make it harder to kill the entire investigation. Also why he preserved all charges, and told the senate he could not legally go any further, and hey house and senate get on this.
/// Mueller has my respect, because when someone commits crimes, going and committing crimes to get them is not good (for society) in the long run. It leads to institutions that regularly abuse their authority, it leads to civil contempt and discontent. Kinda like how the BLM movement is a response to lawless policing that ignores the law and abuses the public trust leaving thousands murdered and many more disenfranchised over the last few decades.

And he'll be like "Sorry, we're too busy investigating what went wrong with the previous administration's attempts to stop the deaths of 200,000+ COVID-19 victims..."

Probably not. But I find comfort in the fact these administration members and officials have acted so terribly they will need to pay for protective services for the rest of their life. That ain't cheap and Don Jr. ain't exactly got Prince Corporation money like Betsy DeVos does. Might bankrupt a person of less secure means.

The best we can hope for is in 15 years they're all destitute and abandoned after their friends, spouses, and children left them.

I need to hear Biden promise to investigate and prosecute these bastards once he's president. I know the real power-holders will want things to "go back to normal" and to "bury the hatchet," but fark that we can't afford it. Everything they're doing is setting a precedent for future administrations. The future of the country depends on whether or not these criminals are held liable for the crimes they commit.
