Uhhh testing yes. But treatment. And prevention.

And prevention has to be something other than contact tracing. Contact tracing prevents nothing, since it happens after exposure and after somebody is symptomatic.

The rapid test is garbage, the PCR test can take up to 2 weeks to get results.
The CDC is no longer involved in up to date testing results.  The federal government has taken other steps to delay or deny testing and reporting including a complicated financial system to get a test (in many cases your insurance will only cover some or none of the test).
So first we need to get rid of #45, Pence, McConnell, and everyone they ever hired.   That is unlikely to happen before January 2021.
So yeah, blue states know we need a lot more testing and other stuff.  Red states are foaming at the mouth, avoiding water, and shooting randomly into the sky while slowly reciting a list of prominent Democrat politicians.

It prevents the contacts from exposing others, dingus.

Well if you have a number of cases low enough to actually do contact tracing, it prevents the next person that you already gave it to from passing it on.

Bernie sanders and others pushed universal health care but murcans decided they r already healthy enough.

Covid taught them otherwise.

In murcas for profit healhdontcare system there is little money in prevention.  That makes sit at home stock owners nervous.

The bucks r in "cures" not prevention.

Somebody should come up with a treatment for diabetes and provide it for free.

The government has also done more in the past month to stimulate the creation of new kinds of tests than it has done in any period of the pandemic so far.

Of course it has.

Because if they don't contain the coronavirus between now and November, Trump and his minions are convinced they will lose an honest election, badly.

Another catastrophe (as they see it) whose prevention they've actually been taking seriously.

how?  people are still attending work and school while awaiting results.

all it does is inform them they may have it.  lotta faith in humanity to do the right thing with that information.

That's what this article is about. The gold standard test is useless. Perfect has become the enemy of good. You can't treat pandemics like other health care situations.

Test everyone every day with a 15 minute test and yes there will be an error rate but better a false positive than a false negative.

Back in the day we institutionalized people who failed to take precautions because they disbelieved in their disease. We used to take public health seriously. Now? If it is inconvenient people start punching because their right to spread germs is more important than the right of everyone else's health. And no society can long tolerate that or they collapse from the toll diseases take.

I'm not saying I disagree, but, if you can't trust anyone to act responsibly, we're either farked or we need totalitarian government. I choose to trust most people to act responsibly. I would isolate until test results if I had a close contact, as would most people I know.
