One of my favorite rock bands of the '70s (Thin Lizzy being the other), even though they fell off a cliff after Obsession.

I loved them in high school.  Unfortunately they put out a stinker album and, being the 70's and me being a teenager with no money, quit buying their albums after that.

My bad, in the 90s when I had money and could buy their remastered CDs they were a damned fine band that never got the recognition they deserved.  Eddie Trunk has it right, UFO should have been amongst the greats.

I've seen UFO several times in the past decade and always liked them.  I had tickets at House of Blues for their final tour for several months, then learned at the show that Paul Raymond had died. Kind of a bummer.

Eddie Trunk thinks they are.  They are his favorite band, which is weird to me.

It's like having Train be your favorite band, or Inspiral Carpets.

Just a middling band with a couple hits.

I do have three UFO tunes on my iPhone though, truth be told, and no Train or Inspiral Carpets.

Saw them open for Journey (before Steve Perry) and Montrose at Winterland in '75. Still one of my favorite concerts overall. Think I paid $5 for the ticket.

RIP, bass guy. You guys shredded that night. Thanks for the memories.

Fun fact: Pete Way never played a note on the first record. Ozzy recruited him and he bailed according to legend anyway. Mick Feat played all the bass parts.

Seriously, that's as solid a '70s rocking lineup as you'll ever see.

I saw him/UFO open for Ozzy in '82 in San Antonio , the year that Ozzy urinated on the Alamo. Pete was wearing red leather pants that ripped down the side during the show.  I don't know why I remember that, but he continued playing.  Great show.

Never one of my 'go to' bands when looking for something to listen to but always enjoyed them when they came up on the random playlist I have.

I think I'll need to change that this weekend.

RIP & thanks.

Holy shiat that was terrible.  LOL

That's the worst live UFO song I've ever heard. They're usually much better than that, or at least they've only released better live recordings.

Are you going to tell me that Live At Last is any better?  I love both bands but 70s Sabbath was a fantastic shiat show.

Slightly off topic but the singer of that band would eventually shift gears and go in a different direction musically

I knew of them from radio, but got more in to them when I had a roommate that was a fan.  No place to Run and Wild, Willing, and Innocent seemed OK.  After that, yea.

Few years ago was driving down Boulder Hwy, and saw on the billboard at Boulder Station "UFO" i figured it had to be some area 51 crap, not the band playing that shiathole. Hit a hard u-turn and went in. Found out they were playing there the next night. Bought tix for me and the wife, and they killed it, even it that bandbox. Very glad i listened to Trunk on this

I must have been at that show. We've seen them 3 or 4 times here.  I think they played at Danny Coker's place once that I learned about after the fact where we missed.

See now Vamp'd would have made so much more sense to me. Love that place, and have seen so many great acts come through town playing there

Didn't one of those band members quit on stage in the middle of a show or right after show the 90s?

Is it wrong to like both bands?  Asking for a friend.

I found out it was the same singer way after I had first heard Flogging Molly.  I have a friend named Molly and I crack up when thinking of the band name.  csb etc etc

saw him in Waysted, openining up for maiden in saginaw, was on the wall, and he came out doing this spread-legged thing, like steve used to do, but it had split, and torn, right in the ball area, spandex, no joke, so hes up there playing tunes, loud as hell, and we all were trying to give him sign language, to tell him "yer nads are gonna show", after 2 songs, he realized. thank god for those old fruit of the looms colors.
