When Trump loses the election, the period between November and January when he's still technically President, he's going to go farking wild. I don't give a shiat if he marries Ivanka. But he's going to do some other serious shiat that will burn down this country.

Snowden was an American who spoke out about shady stuff that his own government was doing. He was not working as a Russian agent.

Fark user imageView Full Size

He ended up in Russia because the Americans revoked his passport as he was passing through their airport and he was unable to board his next flight. He was forced to travel on that route because the US government had gone as far as to force a foreign President's airplane to land because they thought he might be on it.

His autobiography is worth reading.

People have been quick to slobber on Snowden's knob, but his autobiography and a Oliver "JFK" Stone puff movie shouldn't be your source for accurate information.

Trump muses that Snowden is being treated unfairly.  Well, Trump has been President for 3 1/2 years so those years of unfair treatment have been on his watch. Is he admitting that he has been at fault in this matter?

Snowden absolutely should be pardoned. I don't give a damn who does it. Even a broken clock is right twice a day and by my count, so far, Trump has been right zero times. So, Trump has two more chances to get something right. It may as well be pardoning Snowden.

Yup this. We STILL have warrantless wiretapping of American citizens. There is zero evidence that snowdens whistleblowing hurt our country in any way.

Trump isnt going to pardon him, this is just another smokebomb

Snowdens whistleblowing was embarrassing to the Obama administration. If he'd embarrassed the bush or trump administration instead we'd all be celebrating him for doing the right thing and coming forward. Obama was the best president since Clinton, but warrantless wiretapping was and still is wrong.

I'll give you the "useful" bit. Russia might well have had a hand in steering him in their direction (e.g. via WikiLeaks) after his story hit the news, and I'm sure they were quite glad to see the NSA's secrets made public. I'll dispute "idiot". He was one guy trying to do what he believed was right, up against one of the most powerful governments on the planet trying very hard to keep their dirty secrets hidden. It's impressive that he made it as far as he did (better than other whistleblowers before or since).

Snowden is a traitor/useful idiot, and so is Trump, and both serve at Putin's heel. Reailty Winner is the only whistleblower who deserves to be pardoned.

I believe his story over your assertion, although I'm willing to reconsider if there's evidence to support it (evidence published somewhere that it can be independently verified rather than a "trust me, it exists" from some government official).

He was working for the Russians. The tools he used were not tools he wrote or had the ability to write.

He was on the verge of getting busted, and I think he was afraid he'd be renditioned for what he was doing and he turned to a Russian-friendly "journalist" to write his story as a freedom fighter.

He was a freedom fighter though. But he was fighting for Russia.

I hereby demand that I be given a Fark account: Nurglitch: Ivo Shandor: Snowden was an American who spoke out about shady stuff that his own government was doing. He was not working as a Russian agent.

Seeing as how you can't find anyone on all of earth that does not lie about some things some times, i find this is basically an irrelevant factor for judging anyone.
The question becomes more impotent to dig into the details about what was lied about and how off was it from the truth.Everyone lies, so the question is not did they at all, but in what way and how badly and maybe even ask ,why in the first place. You know was this a lie told to help others or was this a lie told for selfish greed and nefarious purposes?Did they first take a public oath to all of us and then break that oath? Were they some unknown rank and file worker that no one knew about to start with until something made us notice them?Devils in the details ass they say.So if we understand everyone lies, then calling out anyone just for lies is pointlessly irrelevant, like pointing out that the sun comes or or the rain is wet.more details will be needed before anything of relevance has been pointed out.
