There is no such thing as shooting to wound.  All shots are to kill.  You're spouting hollywoo bullshiat that shows you know nothing of the real world.

So, no one ever shoots at a leg? They always shoot to kill?

Then why do cops have guns, since they are not Judge Dread or the Spanish Inquisition, to condemn someone who hasn't even been tried to death?

RussianPotato: This is another, of many, examples as to why you need a "high capacity" magazine for a firearm.

Kid was shot 3-4 times and wasn't fazed at all.  He kept coming at the officer.  Officer fired another volley and hit the kid around 1-2 more times.  Sounds like the cop fired around 10 shots total.  And that's not even bad marksmanship.  A handgun is not an accurate weapon.  Firing around 10 times and hitting 5 times is pretty good for a moving target.

10 shots to incapacitate a single individual.  Imagine if there had been more attackers.

While nothing you said is factually wrong, you have made the mistake of saying it on Fark. Saying words which can be characterized by a motivated observer as not actively anti-gun are not acceptable on this premises.  Please remain where you are while the WhidbeySquad finalizes the location of your account for termination.

Oh, come on. In the thread, what, yesterday, people were saying it was not a big deal to hit a helicopter 1000 feet up.

If you can hit that, you can't get someone's leg at close range?

Great shots, I guess.

The fact that Joerg normally shuns wearing any safety gear will tell you that even he thinks that's an especially dangerous design.

that was why the colt 1911 came about

The magazine in the 1911 my dad used to own only held 8 rounds.

5 shots, shiats, none fatal. This cop is either a surgeon or the worst shot in history.

"The officer fired four to five shots, but the teen kept walking in his direction, the report said. The officer fired another round and the teen fell against a wall."
Reading is hard.
He fired six shots, five hit.

Hit in the neck, abdomen and thigh. Like I said, surgical or shiatty.

And fark your "reading is hard" comment, asshole.

Per TFA: "wounded."

I'll take that over "shot 382 times"

Ask a cop in the US to shoot to wound and they laugh at you for being a noob.

Cops in Canada like the US shoot until whatever they are shooting goes down and stays down

Not true.  We shoot to stop the threat.

Canadians are Americans and Americans shoot to kill. Do you even logic?

Re read Rikkards comment saying Canadians and American cops shoot to kill.

All I'm saying is Canadian cops don't shoot to kill.

You are probably doing "facts" thing. I prefer logic. For example "it's coming right for us/past us/away from us!" logic

I'm speaking from training and unfortunately experiance.

Dude not here to argue, I'm just telling you what I know about what Canadian cops lethal use of force training.

If your shooting a gun at someone, you are shooting to kill. At least, you better be.

In any country.

Not actually.  In Canada cops are trained to shoot to stop the threat. That's it, that's all, no ifs ands or buts.

I'll give you the ifs and ands, but some Canadian cops will totally shoot you in the butt. Sometimes even with a gun.

Technically all shots should be to center mass  as the most effective means to neutralize the threat. The dying part is just the unfortunate side effect of being shot center mass.

Guns don't kill people.

Kinetic shock and blood loss do.

CBC has a story with a video of the shooting here.

You can see just how close this kid got to the officer before the cop resorted to lethal force it says a lot for the quality of the officers involved that they gave him every opportunity before shooting him.
