Aside from her husband and their two travel companions - and, now, readers of The New York Times - Ms. Gaudino has no plans to tell anyone about her trip.

Well that's keeping it on the down low.

"I'm taking all the mandated precautions, I know the risk."

The risk? There's only one of them?

And all the precautions except flying to a county with ten times the per capita infection rate as NYC, driving around in a rental for ten days, probably ditching into air conditioned hotels because of the string of excessive heat warnings, then flying back to NYC to spread the love?

I'm taking all the mandated precautions, I know the risk.

Except for the main one - STAY HOME.

Yes, you're being selfish, self-centered, and generally a stupid bint.  Why?  Because you're exposing everyone else you meet to your germs - unless you're also planning on wearing those self-contained suits to keep your germs to yourself.  And the thing is, you may not be the one who pays the price.  All those people that you interact with while at their jobs?  Yeah, the low paying peons that DON'T have the ability to stay home and stay safe that are required to serve you?  They'll probably end up paying that price because you're a selfish bint.

I don't even get the going on vacation during a pandemic thing.  I get asked all the time, "where did  you go this summer? / where are you going this summer?"   I'm not even going out to eat, much less on vacation!
The way I feel right now, I'm never going on an airplane again and I'm never eating inside of a restaurant again.  That might change with a good vaccine but right now big fat nope.

No, because I didn't take a vacation during the pandemic.

Nice humble brag there.

And yes, you know damn well you're being selfish but you're still going.

I was hoping to go on a couple vacations this year.  Not happening.

I'm not completely holed up afraid the graboids will get me, but I'm not being dumb about it either.

"Some people believe you're selfish for leaving your home unless it's to get groceries," said Ms. Gaudino, 34, a communications consultant. "I'd rather avoid potential altercations and I can go into this experience with a clear mind: I'm taking all the mandated precautions, I know the risk."

yes.

We cancelled our beach vacation and are going camping instead. It's about as low risk a getaway as possible, as we're bringing everything we need with us and won't have to shop there. I'd rather be by the ocean with a nice cocktail in my hand, but this isn't the year for that. So a beer by the campfire it is.

I should also say I'm not traveling out of state, and my state is one of the few who has this shiat under control, at least for now.

I can't believe this got by the NYT Sensitivity Panel. Aren't they afraid this will encourage more people to make bad choices?
