Imagine that. A Middle East "peace" deal that isn't worth the paper it's written on.

Imagine that. The "peace" deal in question includes Israel pinky-swearing that they won't take more land from the Palestinians.

And imagine that. A "peace" deal that is meant to make Trump look good, when one of the partners is Bibi Netanyahu and the other is a country in which he is (or wants to be) heavily invested.

Quelle surprise.

There is always a catch with Middle East "peace deals." Always.

The "peace agreement" was front-page news.

This is the days-later correction buried on page 18.

This has no relevance anymore. Trump already has what he wanted from the original announcement.

5 minutes' worth of distraction from the abject disaster that he's made of literally everything?

I must commend conservatives for turning the truth into a lie or conspiracy and eating their own who try and point it out.  The .1% who actually benefit from all that is going on, I tip my hat to you.

Sounds like a Donnie "I would like you to do us a favor" move.

Announce a deal.  That's it. Just announce it, nothing of substance needs to be done.

2020-08-14 1:52:49 PM
Is anyone shocked that Trump, and his pet spineless quisling Lindsey Graham, lied about a treaty?

They will welcome us as liberators!

I called this yesterday when it was announced.   ¯\_(ツ)_/¯  I will admit, I didn't think anyone involved would actually admit it, especially the very next day.

Trump or Bibi?

Thought as much.

Same. This was merely a way for the UAE to package up normalization of relations with Israel so that it appeared to be a trade. They aren't actually concerned with the Palestinians' situation any more. It's also almost certainly a test balloon for KSA to do the same.

No, FARK THEM. They are just one of many reasons why we cannot have nice things.
They need to be encased in concrete and buried in a deep , deep , deeeeeep  hole, filled with more concrete.

2020-08-14 2:04:56 PM
They're basically saying that Trump's deal will only work if Trump loses the election.

Heh.

The best healthcare?
ISIS defeated?
North Korea no longer a threat?
Afghanistan peace deal?
China trade deal?
...
UAE peace deal?

How (redacted) is the media, exactly?

Yeah, these deals seem to go pretty well for all involved... at least on one side of it.

2020-08-14 2:27:25 PM
I'd fully assumed that was the only thing agreed to - just to get past Election Day for Captain Anusmouth.

That right there was always one of my favorites.  He actually thought that he could just order the military to carpet bomb ISIS out of existence.  That is why he kept saying it was so easy.
It never occurred to him that the civilian casualties in such an attack would outweigh the ISIS casualties some 100 to 1.  And that might be too conservative an estimate.

And the thing is, he doesn't care.  He would have done it anyway.  Collateral damage, amiright?

In 5 years since 1990. Bibi should really go to prison for all his bullshiat.

Do you think they have notebook inspections?
I'd love to read what's in those books.
Or do they just pretend to write something?

Again. Most of the Gulf Arab states are working towards decoupling themselves from the Palestinian cause, and openly declaring alliance with Israel.

Trump may have believed it out of sheer ignorance, but everyone else understood.

Which is all part of the GOP's long-game resurrection plan -- try to make everyone believe they didn't line up like Good Germans behind Trump once Trump became the nominee.

Dems are essentially handing them a free Comeback Party Of The Year award by letting places like The Lincoln Project do the legwork. Or by praising that absolute POS Mitt Romney.

There's a really old joke about bureaucratized Communism (originally from the GDR I believe) that marginally addresses this question. You may already know it.

Q: Why do the state-security goons always travel in threes?

A: One who can read, one who can write - and one to keep an eye on the two dangerous intellectuals.

Of course those notebooks are audited. Probably have to trade at random, to ensure a consistency of approach and naturally that in no way imaginable has anything to do with Trumpy's little Gauleiters here.
