"I feel like we have hit the iceberg, and we are making decisions about when we should have the band play," one advisor said, referencing Titanic.

Did the marching band already drown?

grimlock1972: The biggest thing the NCAA can do to get these other conferences to shut down fall sports is to flatly declare that there will be no recognized national champions for 2020 in those sports.   in additional state that no conference champion crowned this year will be officially recognized by the NCAA either.    Also reassure players that no years of eligibility will be lost and that they will be allowed to switch school if their current one refuses to recognize this.

Take away the object of desire for the conferences and the motivation to play goes away.    It may not work but if they play it will be for nothing save whatever money is made selling tickets.    No championships to be had this year.

Edit: LOL  should have scrolled down  abit on the sports thread XD

/me grimlock need new strategy.

downstairs: Like I alluded to in the other thread... how does the NCAA not have centralized government over this stuff?  What the hell does the NCAA actually *do* then?

So how can they hand out penalties- some super severe- to schools for some things... yet can't control other things?

The NBA could so easily destroy NCAA basketball this fall if they wanted to. They already have the infrastructure in place with the G-League.  They could just expand the draft 2 more rounds and suck all of the talent from NCAA basketball.

Players drafted in rounds 3 and 4 get a 3-year guaranteed G-League contract paying them $100k - $50k per year depending on when they're drafted. If they get promoted to the main team there's some bonus structure or conversion of the contract.

I feel sorry for any pale redhead in the Florida sun. I bet he turns into a sunburnt beet once a month.

I'm pretty sure those are actually Georgia fans, doing a parody of Florida fans.  Which is kind of silly considering that you could merge everything South of Atlanta with everything North of Miami into a single state.  Both the citizenry and the landscape are pretty much the same.

'Cause the players tried to take the field
The marching band refused to yield
Do you recall what was revealed
The day the music died?

What does the NCAA do?  They work hard to ensure that their athletes are treated like cattle with few rights.
