The new altar boys are in early this year!

Treat them as a cult. Seize their assets, burn the building, free the children.

This is the case in a number of states and cities.  The schools that are Catholic run schools need tuition...they almost have to have students in class to justify the tuition.  And, further, they are admitting students from public schools who are going to be online...its easy money.

So, the irony is, the Catholic church, which for the last century has been very supportive of science and evolution (aside from those Catholics who got in bed with evangelicals), is going to be responsible for doing the most a-scientific approach to opening up.

Yes, they "discerned" - the "discernment process" as they call it, of prayer and seeking God's will.  Interestingly, God's will is always what benefits them the most.

Easy money.

Guess they found a new way to fark our children.

Not the first time Catholic Bishops used Ky for an experiment.

Prayer doesnt do shiat.

An experiment in what? Faith healing? We could save them time and money by telling them how it's gonna end up.

Not that they'd listen. Religious people are especially resistant to reality and logic.

So Kentucky Catholics are going to let COVID-19 molest their children for a change?

2020-08-13 3:10:06 PM
So it's safe to open schools because kids don't show symptoms often when they get covid.

And it's also safe to open school because when they catch it they will just have them stay home because they will see the kids having symptoms.

How does that work?

2020-08-13 3:11:05 PM

etoof: Prayer doesnt do shiat.

After they have to close the schools again, prayer will be the reason then, too. Coincidentally, God tells them to do exactly what their politics would do, he's weird like that.

Can't touch the kids if they aren't there.

Once again, bad decisions are made off the basis of incorrect assumptions that the sick will display symptoms.

All for the sweet sweet sweet Jesus Bucks.

I ain't clicking on something that has "Catholic Bishops" and "KY" in the same sentence...

Today I learned that the Catholic term for their robes is "school."

Every catholic school I know both here in Delaware/PA and back in Wisconsin where I'm from is doing 5 day in school...no exceptions. Few here in Delaware are having the kids who would be playing football doing conditioning drills now as a team. Lets just say they are not social distancing at all. But their parents insist this is how their crotchfruit is going to get a college scholarship.

No prayers go unanswered, but sometimes the answer to a prayer is "no."

This is what people actually believe.  This is what actual people actually tell actual people to actually believe.

The decision comes on the heels of Gov. Andy Beshear's recommendation for schools to delay in-person learning until Sept. 28.

Because private schools don't have to play by the same rules because the SCOTUS let them because Jesus.

Parents: "We can't be bothered with the inconvenience."

Kids: Cough Cough

Parents: Cough Cough Cough

Elderly: Cough Thud.

Parents: Cough Cough Cough Cough

Teachers: Cough Cough Cough Cough Cough

Bishops: Who could have forseen this?

Students: All of this was unnecessary. I almost died, I lost my Parent(s). But that one week back was worth it?

Pray to Nurgle, win Covid-19 prizes.

Since Covid-19 causes stillbirths, they don't get to complain about abortion anymore.

So we'll have a side by side comparison of fact-based decision making vs. magical thinking. Not that, again, it will convince the religious, who always have some bullshiat justification for the shiatty results of their decisions. Not enough faith or some other answer you'd get from any other con artist.

Not that I give a fark about private religious institutions but they don't have to follow all of the same rules (they have to follow some of them) because they're private entities not funded by taxpayers (yet; they would obviously like to change that).

They're opening because if they don't, a lot of them won't survive. That's somewhat unfortunate, but those supporters who vote Republican are getting exactly what they want: an inert verging on incompetent federal government. That's why we're all suffering, the Republicans are getting what they supposedly wanted. They're getting it good and hard, so that's the silver lining here, that the morons who voted for President Useless Asshole are getting farked just like the rest of us.

Historically, Catholic bishops haven't really cared about the best interest of children.

It's not the hair on those boys that those priests want to part down the middle.

/I'm the last guy to defend any organized religion, but at the end of TFA, they mention mandatory masks and social  distancing
//sounds like they'll maybe be better off than that Georgia public school

The September 28th opening is only a recommendation.  Warren County Public Schools, with a >10% transmission rate in the county, is going to begin in person schooling just like the Catholic Schools.
