Can I state that I just LOVE the "Mitch better have my money" sign in that picture?

Because being competent is less important than being able to declare "victory", even if nothing actually happens.

Whomever posted the Goebbels quote about repeating the lie, and the narrative of making the truth a mystery in a protofascist state that's been popping up in threads is spot on.

As they flail, they become even scarier. It's bad enough we're getting roto-rootered by this farking year, now the autocratic intention is coming into sharp focus.

These are the last, desperate measures. And they might work.

Bootleg: Can I state that I just LOVE the "Mitch better have my money" sign in that picture?

Based on what I read in the article, it's pretty obvious to me that red states can't possibly provide Trump's benefits to their unemployed.

By election day, it will be obvious to voters that it was just Trump's usual unworkable scam.

Democrats don't even have to challenge it in court. Sit back and let the White House try to implement it's five versions of the $300+$100 flim flam.

The only good thing about Trump being incompetent/disinterested about how the levers of power work is that he fails a lot.
The bad thing is that he doesn't know that he's failed.

Nothing, absolutely nothing, Trump does with an EO is effective, practical or legal.  So no surprises here.

Or they'll what? Call the gravy SEALs? Use their vast untapped silent majority to suddenly come out? We saw what they're worth: a bunch of costume clowns.

The military ain't the police. They know who this farker is and if that doesn't keep them in line, they damn well know any bullshiat pulled in one state is gonna happen in their state, too.

Yes, how dare a paper of record be repeatedly linked to on a site that talks about news.  Heresy!

It's not a paywall'd article. I go there every day and for the past two weeks I've only seen one paywall'd story.

AND, I am always in 'private browsing' mode and that, until recently, always triggered the wall.

Also, if you do meet a paywall, remember: Outline dot com is your friend.

TBH, I think WaPo is allowing Covid stuff to run free b/c they were missing too many clicks.

I wonder if we will have a Romania moment. Not that one but the one where a million people marched into town and the military was ordered to open fire. They looked around and said nah, we're good. It was the day Ceausescu backed down from his speech and momentum took over from there.

So would the military fire on their own citizens if a million showed up? I kinda doubt it and we may find out.

We know what will happen because it already happened: they opened fire with chemical weapons in Lafayette Square, and subsequently put out a Nuremberg defense. Then, weeks later, they started kidnapping people off the streets.

A million is much more intimidating than a few hundred. Strength in numbers and all that. Even several hundred thousand pissed off citizens would do it.

Remember, deep down they are pussies. Hell. They biatched about the farking leaf blowers blowing the gas back at them. They whined for a farking week.

Like, I don't care at this point.  I've been on ~$210 a week after withholding for the last three weeks.  I'm lucky - I have the recommended 6 months' pay banked.  I can afford for the Democrats to hold out for $600 (which would be really nice); I can afford for Dumpy's unconstitutional attempts to get at least $400 to people to get shot down. At least half of the 30 million unemployed/furloughed can't.

We need money to the unemployed, now.  It's a national emergency.  And nobody is treating it like one.

It's now going to be THREE AND A HALF WEEKS until Congress reconvenes.  It's completely unacceptable.  They all need to be back there and shut in a room to make a deal on unemployment extension and only unemployment extension and not allowed the fark out until they make one and pass it.  Most people CAN'T WAIT.  That time represents eviction, it represents foreclosure, it represents hunger.

farking get back in there and DO SOMETHING.

Anyone with rudimentary knowledge of how to use a browser can read their articles. 3/4 of the complaints about "paywalled" articles are because people don't like the content of the WaPo or NY Times article, not because of a "paywall".

Oh you're so clever.

I love that the site that's tagline as "Democracy dies in the darkness" only keeps the lights on for people who pay, or nerds like you who apparently have nothing better to do than find a way to circumvent their paywall.

I really hope you feel proud of your accomplishments, however dull they may be.

The rest of us normal people would just like to read an article pertaining to the rape of our country and it's citizens.

Can you find a way to beat that paywall?

Good journalism costs money.  That being said, if you work somewhere that gives you a .gov email address, the subscription is free.

In the meantime, tens of millions of Americans are being farked over because the financial relief they need to survive during the pandemic has run out, eviction moratoriums across the States have expired and there's no new bailout package in sight

That's true. It's why I don't have a job writing for a newspaper anymore.

I also don't think linking to a paywall website on a free news aggregator website is very helpful, either.

Not all of us can live in mom's basement and figure out how to skirt around a paywall.

Ugh. I dont want to know how to do it. I was just expressing that we shouldn't have to know in order to read a linked article from Fark.

I'm sure if I really cared, I could figure it out. But I've spent more time defending a useless position for no reason.
