I hope you're paying attention Drew because if you do this right, Fark.Com is about to become a massive cog in our future economy.

Atom scale, requires the atoms to be realigned after a while, and its the wispy strands of a beginning of a possible idea that they are just starting to explore. So stop being a lying bastard subby.

Unicorn tech wont save us from ourselves, we have to dramatically change to stay in the land of the living

It's a link to Popular Mechanics, so I'm assuming it's right up there with Flying Cars Of The Future.

So they discovered how to turn CO2 and water into ethanol.

Like what plants and fungus have been doing for millions of years.

It's more about efficiency, but yes.

It takes many steps for plants to turn the CO2 into sugar, for yeast to turn that sugar into ethanol, and then for humans to separate the ethanol from water. A lot of energy is wasted and a lot of by-products are formed. Direct synthesis could be much more efficient, particularly as we build more renewable power stations which have days when they're making more electricity than the local grid can absorb.

Actually, that is yeasts, which are fungus.

Looks like you will have to find another way to support your alcoholism.
