Can't blame the guy for being in a rush.  He had 26 minutes to get to the gym.

It almost sounds like a euphemism for a certain unmarked destination. I can't believe I actually looked this up but there is indeed a 17th street in Portage la Prarie.

If you look at it on Google Maps, 17th Street is about 800 feet long at most, so dude actually made a pretty reasonable request. While, I assume, totally shiatfaced.

This goes back a ways, but I wonder if once he realized it was patrol car he said -

"Don't take me Bro"

Released without any charges.  If this was the good old USA the poor bastard would have to pay a fine he could not afford, get his license suspended for a year and have to pay all court costs.

In the USA they drag unwilling people into unmarked vehicles and whisk them away.
In Canada the people willingly jump into the vehicle.
They really are different up north :)

yeah, I was thinking that it had to be a pretty specific destination.   I'm thinking Portage has a Main street, the highway that runs perpendicular to it, and a few alleys.    I doubt I'm going to get fragged by a Portage farker for talking smack on their town ;-)

I used to live on the side of a rather large hill and all of the party spots were on top of the hill. I could never figure out why my neighborhood was where so many kid bikes and big wheel toys ended up abandoned until about the third time staggering home being passed by hooting drunks flying down the hill on purloined cycles it finally clicked.

Sounded like a win / win for the guy. No charges filed, no charge for the ride. Plus a place to sleep.

Yes, they do have their own dark side. Even in Canada. Police are pretty much the same everywhere. Which is why there are world wide anti-police protests along with the USA ones.
