I'm skipping meetings with groups I do stuff with, tonight and Friday. We get together to eat before the meeting. I'd really like to go but things haven't changed. In fact, things are worse now than before so why would I go now?

Is there a way I can see on a map where the outbreaks are by neighborhood?  Like, where could I find info on hotspots in Burbank and NoHo?   I tried searching but Google failed me.

Wouldn't that be useful right now? That was supposed to be part of the 'Contact Tracing' program. But for some strange reason, they never released this information to people. They keep coming up with excuses why they can't reveal this data.

Huh....so this may not even exist?  Well, shiat....

Best I can see, data-wise, is my state does by county.  We're rural enough that its good enough.  Each county only has one town of any size (we're talking big enough to have a Walmart) and many don't have any.

The scarier thing is at work.  Its a university flight school.  Most of the students are from all over the country, around 1000 total, if you count instructors.

They have to wear masks in the building and in cockpits, but its clear they couldn't give less of a fark the rest of the time.  A disproportionate of rich kids, still going on vacations during the summer, having bonfires with dozens of people.

Just today we overheard student pilots saying how lucky so-and-so is because they tested positive but are going on vacation anyway, so they didn't lose their flight status and should be clear when the new semester starts.

I hate everybody.  5 months of this sh*t and we could have been done with it but there are just too many self entitled aholes running around not giving a damn.  So when I pass the park filled with little league games or see the full parking lot at Texas Roadhouse restaurant, I just shake my head and make sure the kids know they're home for school until the new year.

Some states provide data at zipcode level.  Contact your dept of health and ask them to start doing so if they aren't.

Here in trumpville restaurants opened quickly, some barely closed...others took it serious...but immediately 3 coffee shops, 3 restaurants, one multiple times had to shut down due to employees getting covid.
We are staying the fark away, maybe maybe outdoor dining but even then, people don't social distance.
Good thing is that I cook all meals at home anyways...but getting out every once in a while is a nice break. But that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make/endure to not get this shiat.

This is anecdotal. My friends in South Florida post on social media that they are spending hours in bars, clubs, restaurants. No masks, no social distance. Of course, they are young and most likely they will recover. But I wonder if they are spreading it to vulnerable people.

I would MURDER someone for good Jalepeno Poppers or Extreme Fajitas, but I wouldn't DIE for them.

It's not mapped out, but this website lists number of cases per community, in LA County ... and updates often.

This is exactly what I say to people. If you were concerned before and taking precautions, you should be taking them now, and more, because it is only worse, not better. (farking logic?)
As for the people who weren't taking it seriously before, I essentially say the same thing, but there is no reaching morons...

So... hey... Rae... bad news. You don't need to go by neighborhoods, people travel outside them. Don't feel safe on your block. LA (city and county) are THE hotspot... That's exactly the mentality that made this reality:

I disagree... the only exception is the vast LA county, so just consider it plague central.
Everything else is trackable and makes sense, especially if you go to the far right column and click on county info.

Well hopefully that continues and as vp she presses hard for her successor to pick up the torch with such things.

In the meantime, what's that got to do with covid spreading at restaurants?

2020-08-12 5:27:27 PM
Used to have a brewpub I'd go to to hang with friends weekly to every other week.  Only people I hang with now are coworkers I'm friends with, usually in my backyard, around a fire, about every two weeks.  Figure if any of us are going to get it we will all get it anyway, but at least we are lowering the risk by limiting the additional people we would otherwise come into contact.  Of course, we've been doing this and we'll be violating that rule this weekend cause a good friend/former coworker is coming up to visit.

The last two fast food places we stopped (one being McDonalds), no one we could see was wearing a mask so we haven't gone back.

Same here, take out pizza and burgers maybe 5-6 times, but no way I'll sit in a restaurant for probably a few more months.

Wife an I are wondering about a family Thanksgiving.  Family Trumpers are one thing, but maskless family Trumpers post-election just seems horrible.

Sorry, but I don't think that is available to anyone. *shrug*
Wear a mask, hand sanitize before you get in the car, wash up when you get home... the wife and I sometimes just shower if we think it was nasty out there...
Damn, I hope the local weed store is open. I stocked up in March and am running low. I'm not exactly a "head", but it sure as hell helps in these times, especially with my new job and wanting to sleep.

Anyway, sorry I can't help, but be safe and be well.

Mexican take out once in the last 6 months. Take and bake pizza a few times, and we have vowed to do it more, mainly to help them. I've worked in restaurants, and you couldn't pay me to sit in one right now... I'd rather go hug the homeless.

My in-laws are not so much republican, but rather brainless moron idiotic fools. They have traveled from a cool spot to hot spots, partied, hung out (no masks or...), dropped kids off for day care at the parents (one of which is having chemo therapy), gone over for dinners, hung out and drank... fark the list goes on for months, and one of them is a nurse.
I rarely realistically wish ill on people, but I seriously hope one of them gets sick enough to need medical attention so maybe... MAYBE then they will take it seriously. I'm not so worried about myself since I can avoid them, but I want this pandemic put to rest, not to linger for another year until the fools die or clue in!

Sorry for the rant... extreme frustration here...

We're hitting up the carryout options at least twice a week.  We want our favorite places to still be there when it is safe to sit down inside.  Everything in the freezer and pantry is there in case there is a real shut down.

But for now, we're doing our part to be good neighbors.  Wearing our masks and staying back from the pick up windows, but we are definitely eating out more now than ever.

Some places have twitter accounts that track when a business has positives (it has to basically be an employee that says hey a bunch of my coworkers just popped positive, so it's not health department data or anything), that's been the best source for that kind of info.

Some states do have the data in GIS so you can see by zip code on their covid dashboards, but that's often not useful on its own because it doesn't give you daily numbers, just a running total.

Your health care office worker, dental assistant, hairdresser, plumber, and all those people you only see through a plexiglass checkout or the ones pointing a thermometer at your forehead --- on their own time.   But hey, you can not expect everyone you see outside your home for business is a monk or cloistered nun -- and even those have some horrible corona clusters, too.   Some of them need reproduce, or at least try, a little later on this evening with someone they're just meeting now.

I'm lucky to live in Ontario where cases have really calms down. But if you look at the government's phase 3 plan, which kicked in a few weeks ago, the entirety of information they were giving was about opening restaurants and bars to inside service. there's no ongoing social distance recommendations for families or whatever, it's all regulations for bars, recommendations for restaurants.

It is 100% the government's priorities to get people back into the farking bars. Because that's what I care about right now. That's what I care about ever! I understand the economic needs to keep all these businesses from collapsing, but this should not be our priority.

kids are back in school in September too, and I feel like they spent a lot less time thinking about that than they did about how to get people drunk together.

I don't understand it. Food delivery services are a thing, and it's also a lot cheaper to drink at home and make your own unhealthy food. I got a smoker for Father's Day and have really been enjoying learning how to use it.

We've eaten out twice since this whole thing went down, and we are in WNY where things are in pretty good shape Covid-wise right now. Both times recently and both times outside. You couldn't pay me to go indoors at a bar or restaurant right now.
