Yeah, they made a decision. Get over it.

Go.  The Big 10 will be more competitive without Nebraska and, either Maryland or Rutgers.

Nebraska did the B1G a favor by joining? Lol.

Nebraska was good a good add in theory but not in practice. Maryland and Rutgers were neither good in theory nor practice.

Only if the only sport you consider is football. Nebraska's won two national volleyball titles and two national bowling titles since joining the Big Ten. They've also won conference titles in women's soccer, women's basketball, women's gymnastics, both men's and women's track and field, baseball, and softball since then.

Maryland and Rutgers were about getting cable TV networks in New York, Baltimore, and DC to add BTN.

Money-wise, the only sports that matter are football and men's basketball.  The Big Ten knew that they were getting an easy basketball win for Michigan State and Wisconsin, but they were expecting more from the football team.  When the league realigned their divisions, Nebraska was set up for success - the league's "powers" are in the East - but they haven't made it a championship game since giving up 70 points to Wisconsin in 2012.  (At least they made it to one - Michigan is still waiting for their first conference championship game.)  I agree that the move was a good one for Nebraska and its athletic program as a whole - but I don't know if has been as good a deal for the conference.

UW Alum here.

I liked adding Nebraska, they are a midwestern state and *were* in the AAU at the time.

I was never on board with adding Rutgers and Maryland but that's just my opinion...

TheFoz: and *were* in the AAU at the time.

They were removed from the AAU because most of Nebraska's research grants come from the USDA which does not do peer reviewing.  The academics at Nebraska are not a question in my mine, there are several programs that can hold their own with any other major university.  Some of their highly rated programs  multiple engineering and law disciplines, biological sciences, chemistry, computer science, earth sciences, economics, English, fine arts, history, mathematics, physics, political science, psychology and sociology.

Its funny how Penn State can rape kids in the showers and Ohio State and Michigan State can rape student athletes everywhere and Iowa can go full racist and Maryland can work athletes litterally to death and nobody breathes a word about dumping them from the B1G. But Nebraska says they might play some football games and the rest of the conference wants them gone or dead or both.

2020-08-12 6:17:59 PM
Why did they join in the first place? Mizzou or Iowa State would have been better, more logical joins than Nebraska.

/at least Mizzou will never have to worry about ever winning a conference championship again

Because their fans are delusional and insufferable.

More than the other schools you listed

The only reason Nebraska is in the B1G is because Texas was a spoiled brat when it came to conference revenue.

/They managed to drive three members of the Big 8 AND their biggest in-state rival into other conferences.

Yeah, there was some weird backstabbyness going on. ISTR some bit about the University of Nebraska Medical Center being too much of a separate entity for the AAU's taste. Strange shade of gray.

Nebraska wants to play by their rules (meaning: the rules Nebraska writes), while everyone else expects them to play by the rules everyone else plays by. Nebraska does not like this, because it means that they might get caught violating the rules not written by Nebraska and might actually get punished for it. This is not to say you won't get an actual education at Nebraska University, it just means other universities might not accept your education at the same value they would every other university.

Ever hear of Lawrence Phillips? Thunder Collins? The Peterson criminals, er brothers I mean.

Scott Frost is a farking clown and is in over his head. In coaching, recruiting, and other every facet needed to be a successful major college football coach.

And spare me his 2017 season at FSU. Sure, he caught lightning in a bottle against Auburn, but beat traditional football powers like Austin Peay, East Carolina, UConn and Temple to get there. Whoop de farkin doo

He probably had more pressure on him when he hid in the closet while Lawrence Phillips was beating his ex so bad she had to be hospitalized.

Do it Nebraska. Leave the B1G. Sure, as an Iowa fan, it's been fun owning your ignorant asses, but even Iowa State is more competition than you pig farkers.

The B1G has started to cut down on ND games. With good reason. If the B1G goes to a 10 game conf schedule, ND isn't going to face B1G teams unless it's bowl games or a one off. No more will they be playing 2-3 B1G teams a year.

As much as Nebraska's departure from the Big XII was a reenactment from the quitting scene in Half Baked, being in the Big Ten wasn't the best plan for them.

IMO...
Maryland Big Ten-->ACC
Rutgers Big Ten-->AAC
Nebraska Big Ten--->Big XII

West Virginia Big XII-->ACC

Boston College ACC-->Big East (FBS Ind)
Notre Dame ACC (FBS Ind)-->Big East (FBS Ind)
Louisville ACC-->Big Ten

Colorado St. MWC-->Big XII

Houston AAC-->Big XII
Navy AAC (football)-->FBS Ind

Marshall CUSA--->AAC
JMU FCS CAA-->AAC

Liberty FBS Ind--->CUSA

UMass FBS Ind-->FCS
UConn FBS Ind-->FCS
New Mexico St. FBS Ind-->MWC (football only)

Basically, undo nearly all the stupid stuff from 10 years ago.

If the B1G dumps the anchor around their neck (Nubraskuh) it won't be Louisville (they don't bring anything to the B1G table) they add, it will be the unwashed, barefooted program, Missery, who comes aboard.

I'd love that. They couldn't back out of any more games against Iowa that way.

The Big 12 needs to go back to 10 teams and the Big 10 needs to go back to 12 teams because the perfect world has the Big 10 with 12 teams and the Big 12 with 10 teams.

FTA: This is a time for transparency. Specifics. Consider this: If myocarditis is tied to COVID-19 and offers a frightening prospect for athletes, why are the NBA, MLB (and soon) and NFL playing?

Let's see, what might be different between those leagues, and college football. I wonder if there is $ome di$tinction?
