Fords are not not known for catching on fire randomly.

Back in the day Ford was one the last major car makers to switch from mechanical brakes to hydraulic braking systems.  Crazy ol' Henry just didn't trust that thar liquid to stop a vee-hickle   While the other car companies made fun of Ford for being so old fashioned, Ford PR responded with the following in regards to mechanical brakes:  "The safety of steel from pedal to wheel.'  Looks like crazy ol' Henry was right...about the brakes....not that stuff he was saying about the Jews and plots of world domination...everybody just wants to forget the stuff about the Jews.

Huh.  Had the front brake hoses (both sides at the same time!) rupture in a Ford SUV of 2007 vintage.

Funny that.

/No recall on that one.

Ford sent me a recall notice for my door latches. Then they sent me another one saying they are idiots who screwed up the replacement I already did, and that I should come back and let them try again.

I guess all car makers suck, but I'm done with Ford
