Let's see, which topic could possibly cause deadly clashes in India...

...yep.

2020-08-12 1:36:59 PM
Why would three people share a FB account? Is it that crowded in India?

2020-08-12 1:39:04 PM
So "I am not secular, but" is the Indian version of "I'm not racist, but"?

2020-08-12 1:39:25 PM
The Qanon suicide attacks aren't that far off, I'm afraid.

2020-08-12 1:39:44 PM
Oh for the good old days of Photoshop contests, where you had to worry about blasphemy and death.

It's probably for the best that all of that has moved on to be Facebook's problem.

Religion? As always.

We're in 2020. If you still believe the made up bullshiat said by sociopathic rappy murdering mental patients like Mohammed 1500 years ago, you should be in a padded room.

They keep having to constrict message forwarding on WhatsApp, after it keeps leading to mob violence:

It's a serious problem.

Nobody prefaces a racist statement with "I'm not racist, ..." because they fear being killed for uttering it. Being socially ostracised for running your mouth is a few steps removed from death.

My second guess would have been "because of religious nuttery".

... grandma posting Qanon nonsense quite literally resulted in a man attempting a mass shooting in America at least once.  I'm not sure what the contrast subby is trying to draw here is.

// TFA seems to describe a stupid teenager using his public-servant parent's soap-box to intentionally start shiat and getting more of what he wanted than he'd bargained for, I don't know that I'd qualify it as "nuttery" when it stems from someone intentionally going out of their way to be a massive douche to a violently oppressed minority from a position of extreme privilege and borrowed authority.  I'm not remotely muslim and I kinda wanna burn down the little shiat's house, too, makes sense that he got arrested over this stunt.

2020-08-12 2:05:34 PM
I can't wait to hear reasonable requests about how the only thing that has to happen is we simply never say anything even remotely offensive ever, and people won't get executed over it.

That's nothing. I honestly wonder how many people are killed over Facebook (or any social media) posts. Just today, a mother was murdered in front of her four children and two cousins over something over Facebook, and a classroom of kids saw it over Zoom.

All this virtual shiat is getting too real y'all.

Yes, yes, broad brush strokes, Internet bad, people dumb, hurr durr, but let's put a finer point on this:

Facebook has an algorithm that ensures people see content they're more likely to engage with, even if said engagement is negative. The algorithm has a built-in feedback loop that spreads the most inflammatory content the widest.

The kicker: execs opposed this feedback loop because inflammatory content would end up dominating users' feeds. And Zuck told the execs to EABOD and GTFO.

So let's please not jump past any opportunity to ensure we spread the message that Facebook is indeed a cancer on society. There are many, many atrocities that have stained Zuck's hands with blood and he's only making things worse.

So what do you post about the prophet to get that kind of reaction?

Jim_Callahan: I don't know that I'd qualify it as "nuttery" when it stems from someone intentionally going out of their way to be a massive douche to a violently oppressed minority from a position of extreme privilege and borrowed authority.

"Nuttery" is when someone thinks $800 crystals from Gwyneth Paltrow's sweatshops will align their vagina's chakra with Jupiter.
This is bloodlust and murder because someone's totally-not-an-idol prophet was mocked. I don't think it's cool and PC to regard these people as so primitive and savage that you expect so little human-like behavior from them that you shrug your shoulders when stuff like this happens.

In Pakistan, all you have to do is say is that you're a prophet. That's punishable by death. And if some teenager with a gun gets you before the court does, they'll become a national hero.

I RTFA, I'm sorry.

The three that died were the _right_three_.

But the mob did burn down a house before getting dispersed by rifle fire.

Like the Texan draw Mohammed contest, but not as well organized. B- Next time, set the trap better Hindus.

Here's where atheists like myself post about secularism and non- violence, and then the jesus rode a dinosaur folks all scream about Stalin and Hitler being atheists, which is a flat out lie they learn in PDF file school.
Ignorance is the greatest source of hate and misunderstanding on the planet, and denial of reality in favor of myths and legends that make you easier to manipulate is a huge factor.
It's also easier to justify atrocities if your fairy godmother or whatever the fark you bow to says it's cool.
fark religion, I don't care if you're a "good" believer or not, that's like saying a little child abuse is okay, as long as you're not killing the kid.
Take the farking blinders off and suddenly the world is a much bigger, more interesting and challenging place.
