Permanent Solutions For Permanent Problems: Hopefully this amphibious landing ship doesn't burst into flames and burn for a week like the other one.

Well, since they aren't doing yard work on it, I doubt it will.hips-in-maintenance-always-face-increased-risk-for-fire-damage

Very cool- just as a comparison, here's the layout of the WWII Essex class carriers with the modern Wasp class Essex.  They look fairly similar and are roughly the same size, although obviously the modern Essex isn't a pure aircraft carrier.

WWII Essex: 30-36400 tons, modern 40500
WWII Essex: ~860 feet long, 93 foot beam, modern 843x104

Catalina is likely my all time favorite aircraft.  Up there with a Grumman Goose.

Webulator: I don't get it?  Why are they sending warbrides to Hawaii on a Navy ship?  Can't they just fly commercial?

I love the Catalinas too.  If the border ever reopens, I'd like to book a ride on the one in Hamilton, ON.
