Must have a turning radius as big as a supertanker. DItto it's radar signature.

Pretty sure it doesn't hover.

lol @ "illicit", "1 a.m." and "the sleeping guard". It is obvious they paid for entrance, that they got onto the thing in daytime, and even TFA says the "super-sikrit" wunderwaffle will be put on a public display in a month.

nice camera, however.

That is one ugly aircraft with all those bulbous radomes and launch tubes.

It's munitions will give their victims cancer. The craft will give it's crew cancer. Looking at photos of the craft will give you cancer.

Unfortunately the design was scrapped after they couldn't get the experimental EEL cruise missiles to work.

Nuclear? What purpose would a reactor serve on a vessel like that? Those jet engines don't appear to be electric, or is that just a clever ruse? Did they expect that thing to bob up and down in the water for six months at a time waiting for a mission?

This. Money talks in Russia. That guard made some good money that night to be a tour guide for a bit

In mother Russia, even toasters are nuclear powered. You haven't heard of the infamous Toaster Meltdown Disaster at Anosova, building 7, appt 46 in Chelyabinsk? It clearly said in the instructions "Do NOT remove all toast! Leave at least 1 safety slice in the toaster at all times!" But she was from Ulaanbaatar, and could only read Mongolian. Last report, they were using her as a street lamp in Moscow.

It's the six giant missiles on the back that are (optionally) nuclear.

stamped human bacon: Pretty sure it doesn't hover.

Obviously not. Wasn't full of eels, doesn't hover.

The thing was bloody fast, though.  Worst case it could take out the aircraft carrier by just crashing into it, if it's out of missiles.

Russian. Nuclear. Hoverplane. Camera. TV.

I always go for the extra points.

I got transferred from Siberia to Caspian coast. Much nicer here, and the occasional Chechen terrorist spices up the afternoon.

It was supposed to be a carrier killer. Coming in at ludicrous (airplane) under the radar with tons of anti ship missiles and going pew pew pew before anyone knew what was up.

Problem was it was hard to control and going ludicrous speed a foot over water made for a lot of danger.

It doesn't hoover, it's a wing in ground aircraft.  Back in the 80's and early 90's we rarely got to see more than a blurry image, (think Loch Ness Monster quality) of what was referred to as the Caspian Sea Monster.
