They're rebooting a 90s-era sitcom and not gender-flipping it?  Is that even allowed?

So if sitcoms have Very Special Episodes that are serious, why don't dramas have Very Special Episodes that are funny?

"On tonight's episode of Fresh Prince, Will's biological father shows up only to abandon him all over again with hilarious consequences."

The fresh prince is called the fresh prince because that's literally who will smith is(was).  It's literally impossible to reboot it unless Will Smith has a magic elixir to make himself 20 again (granted, the dude still barely looks 30, but still)

Just like the 'home alone' reboot that has nothing to do with home alone, this has nothing to do with fresh prince.  It'll be some show that vaguely has a similar storyline (poor black kid moves in with his wealthy uncle) and that's 100% where any similarity ends.

Stop calling things that aren't reboots reboots.

Retitle it "The Flesh Prince of Bel Air" and make the character a pimp of high-class, high-dollar prostitutes.

Will Smith is now 7 years older than James Avery (uncle Phil) was when Fresh Prince started.

A while back, there was an idea floating around the internet where a rich kid from Bel-Air has to go live with poor relatives in Philadelphia, and I always thought that was a "fresh" direction for a reboot.

Could use the CGI young Will Smith from the Gemini Man movie.

Could do Will Smith as the new uncle, with a kid moving in with him.

He became who he fought, lending symmetry.

He's probably still fresh enough to prop up for the first few episodes, then they can have a Ways very Special Episode(tm) involving his death, a la John Ritter.

I'm hoping there's a scene where Uncle Phil, unhappy seeing Jazz making eyes at Hilary, and worried he might be a bad influence on Will, throws him out of the house.

/Kinda disappointed it wasn't in the "trailer".
//As far as reimaginings go, that was pretty well made.
///I don't get all the Meek Mill references though...
