My right-wing-nut family members tell me the covid will just go away after election day. Cuz, you know, it's all a ploy to make Mine Hair look bad, and stuff.

To be fair, once Biden takes office and imposes the kind of national lockdown we should have done back in March, it will kinda go away. But that's because he actually gives a sh*t without needing people to fawn over him.

Putting an end to the current shiatshow is the important thing, but I reject the notion that it's all about Covid because:

a) There was a mountain of good reasons to send Drumpf packing before anyone even heard of Covid.
b) I don't want him and his sycophants saying that he would have cruised to a second term if not for the "Ghyna Virus."

It's not so much the virus as it is his farked response to it.  And his alone, nobody in his maladministration has the balls to use their own initiative for anything.

Lest Subby forget, COVID-19 keeping people from the polls is something that would benefit Republicans because, as always, fewer voters at the polls tends to fare better for the GOP than more.  They've known this for decades, they want this.  Whether you want to wrap that into a conspiracy that they're allowing the virus to run rampant because of this fact is your own concern, and I'm not even remotely one who is prone to giving these sorts of things even a first thought, much less a second, but of all loony conspiracy theories, I could possibly be persuaded into believing this one.

Have fun pretending you live in anything resembling a democracy.

True, but in this case i think they're facing either lower turnout or a tanked economy. History says they're farked if the economy is in the shiatter, so i'm betting thats why they want to open schools... let the virus burn through the population, and the economy will recover before voting day. Bonus - they get to claim that 'Trump seen us through our darkest times'.

Trump will win California and New York in a landslide on Election Day, and will attack every mail-in ballot he can.  Getting those kids back in school was a brilliant move that will secure his victory even if he's 20 points down.

Gleeful to take over and not stand in the way of healthcare experts who can guide us out of this as safely as possible. Gleeful to not have to listen to a guy rely on the medical advice from someone who thinks demon semen is what causes illness.

Little do they know that if it gets bad enough, most people are going to behave like there is a lockdown and simply stay home. Good luck getting people to spend money on anything other than groceries and medications then.

/never mind the number of people who would likely have long-term issues and thus unable to fully participate in the economy if we did reach herd immunity the "natural" way.

Yup. As I told my coworkers back in 2016 when they asked why I wasn't voting Trump : Easy. He's (supposedly) a billionaire. Strike one you're out. Why? Because of exactly what anyone with 3 brain cells knew: first order of bidness... Huge tax cuts for him and his buddies.

All the other obvious baggage didn't even need to be considered.

No, the election is going to come down to how effectively Trump and the Republicans have governed in the past four years. They have done so miserably, demonstrating utter incompetence at every turn. And Americans won't forget the ineptitude of Trump's initial coronavirus response even if by some miracle it is under control by November. Which it won't be.

Trump has gained there points on Biden since he has taken control of the Covid data telling the real story instead of the made up interpretations that the CDC was doing. Have fun dreaming of Biden in November.

Yes, yes, the guy who bankrupted multiple casinos, ran a literal scam university, and thinks that WW2 ended in 1917 is "telling the real story" of COVID and not the actual medical experts at the CDC.

If Trump loses, he can blame his boss.  Had Putin contracted the virus back in, say, March or April, Trump would have believed in its seriousness and worked on a national, or even international plan to halt its spread.  Had Vlad gotten the 'rona, the very same anti-mask cultists we see would be in the pro-mask, pro-shelter-in-place vanguard.

It's not hard to see the likely outcome here, and IMO that's why it seems like the GOP is actively trying to spread COVID - because they know they've gaslighted their cult enough to get them to the polls and everyone with sense is going to want to vote by mail.

2 or 3 more months will not be enough to control it. you lack the ability to co-operate.

To begin with the economy isn't going to recover in 3 months.  The stonks may be doing better, but that's never been a measure of the economy.  The economy will still be in the shiatter -- if not worse because the virus is burning through the population practically unchecked in most places, especially where the anti-masker morons are out in force and decking anyone who tells them to mask up.  Moreover, only the hardest of the hardcore of morons who would support Trump if he nuked half the planet would make such a claim -- because they'd be ignoring that the "darkest times" were created by Trump in the first place.

Yes, I realize, they really are that stupid and cultish, but fortunately they're still a minority.  A frighteningly, depressingly large minority, but a minority just the same.

Everything's still going to be in the shiatter come November.  I'm just hoping come November that a significant majority throw Trump in there and flush the damn thing.
