Couldn't possibly agree with subby more.  Republicans didn't even invite W to the 2008 convention, while he was president, because he was so unpopular.  We do not want to remind anyone of 2016.  And Bill is too old and fresh off embarrassing himself at John Lewis' funeral.  Ugh; go away

GWB was working Hurricane Gustav during the 2008 convention, and both he and Laura still found time to deliver speeches via satellite on two of the four days of the convention.

As I said in the red thread, more people voted for Hillary Clinton than any candidate in history not named Barack Obama. That includes Trump. She has every right to speak.

They had him via satellite but it was openly reported that they wanted to minimize his presence die to his approval rating.  He absolutely *could* have been there

Does it really matter who speaks at these things?

They don't convince people to vote one way or another. It's not like we've got a contested convention. It's all cheerleading. Let them speak. I'm not going to waste a bunch of time watching the convention because I know who I'm voting for.

Just have the thing and let's get to the debates so we can get to the election so we can see how Trump is going to fark with it. Just get this year over with, already.

Both are poison. Bill, because of Epstein - his association and the possibility of him traveling to "Lolita Island" is the worst.... and Hillary, through little fault of her own, because she's been completely weaponized by the GOP.

Hillary would be fine to help, from outside the spotlight, and I'd welcome her as a cabinet member after a Biden victory, but she will be more of an impediment than a help if "independent" voters catch more than a whiff of her involved in Biden's campaign.

Bill needs to be canceled outright, and a lot of the taint on him also taints Hillary, unfortunately.

I see there are slots for

- Warren
- Harris
- Duckworth (I saw that elsewhere)
- Whitmer
- The VP

which implies that the VP isn't any of those. Susan Rice/Karen Bass/Val Demings would seem to be favorites then.

2020-08-11 2:37:54 PM
I personally don't give a flying rat's ass about who gives a speech or not. At the end, it's a choice between Trump and his group or Biden and his group. I've seen 3.5 years of Trump, and I don't want 4 more years of this burning outhouse shiat show.

Y'all can batch and moan about who should or should not speak. I'm a practical voter. I don't have time for ideological bullshiattery. I will vote like my kids' lives depend on it because that's the reality they face as black Americans.

fark Kasich.

No, John Kasich, I Don't Want Taylor Swift Tickets

In a half-hearted attempt to connect with young voters, Kasich entered the town hall forum with the 2014 hit song "Shut Up and Dance With Me" blasting from the speakers. While my friends all found it out of place, I realized that the song's title accurately reflects Kasich's message to young voters: shut up and elect me. If the candidate wants to connect with my peers, he can't do it through superficial pop culture references. If he wants our votes, he needs to listen to our voices and address the issues we care about. The president leads the country, not the VMAs, and it's insulting that the governor doesn't think we can distinguish between the two.

I didn't go to a town hall forum for Taylor Swift tickets, Gov. Kasich. I went because it's my civic duty to be an informed voter. Please start treating me like one.

For finding people to do stuff in the future it matters a lot. Reagan (ugh) and Obama both stole the show back in the day. You shouldbe getting a look at the future, not the past.

The Clinton hate is so dumb.

2020-08-11 2:39:48 PM
The DNC needs to stop trying to appeal to "centrists". People who continue to vote for Republicans despite the overwhelming evidence they're in Russia's pocket are unreachable.

What about the 26 million plus Americans who are protesting for Black Lives Matter, Trans Rights, Universal Health Care, Mental Health Care, Rent/Mortgage Protection, and so many other progressive ideals in recent months?

The DNC has a change to reach so many more voters by supporting these agendas than anyone who would tune to watch John Kasich give a speech.

2020-08-11 2:39:49 PM
Honestly, if the electoral college did it's constitutional job, Kasich would have been the 45th president.

AdmirableSnackbar: How can we move on from their shiattiness when they never, ever farking go away? Thanks, assholes, you've done enough damage for multiple lifetimes.

You mean shiatiness like balancing the budget, actually creating a thriving economy, leaving office with an approval rating of 65% , passing welfare reform, raising taxes on high income earners, cutting defense spending, record job creation, cutting the Federal Bureaucracy by more than 100,000 positions and White House staff by 25%, passing NAFTA, passing the Brady Bill, adding 6,000,000 in the first two years of his administration or cutting taxes for 15,000,000 low income families.

Yeah.. what an asshole.

Or were you referring to Hillary getting more votes than any candidate in history except for Obama?  Was that the shiatiness you were referring to (as previously mentioned).

You really should stay in the shallow end.

fark Kasich

Kasich wants to portray himself as the moderate alternative to Donald Trump and Ted Cruz-you know, the one who won't turn away women from the GOP in droves, the way they will. But that's harder to do when he can't stop making exceptionally awkward comments involving women, like when he bragged about women leaving their kitchens to campaign for him in 1978, or told a college student that he didn't have Taylor Swift tickets for her, or, as in this case, suggested that a reasonable precaution against rape for college women is to avoid parties where alcohol is being served. That's a little like telling them to avoid classes where textbooks are assigned. And as many people pointed out, it sounds a lot like blaming women who go to such parties for being raped. (Later on Friday, Kasich moved to tamp down anger, tweeting, in part, "Only one person is at fault in a sexual assault, and that's the assailant."
