He's been in a Muon trap all these years, and when he gets out, he isn't going to be all that friendly.

Can something be "he" if it doesn't exist?

Bart: "Have you noticed that Caspar the Friendly Ghost looks exactly like Richie Rich?"
Lisa: "Maybe Richie Rich realized how hollow the pursuit of material wealth is, and took his own life."
Marge: "Ummm...could you kids lighten up back there?"

It's a lame entertainment property that was corny to me as a 6-year-old in the 70s.  Kids today would find it embarrassingly stupid before they even learned to read.

I wish they would have gone by their original 1952 name for him "Casper the Dead Child."

The line "Can I keep you?" can still drop the panties of 50% of women between the ages of 30 and 40.

/The other 50% just spring for the mace

They tried a reboot with CG a while ago, it went about as well as Gene Kelly's comeback in Xanadu.

Also, what I wouldn't give to get paid to write about/research whatever wanders into my ADD-riddled mind.

/Why IS Europe still considered a real continent, anyway?
//And why aren't they taking the perfect opportunity to remake Soylent Green?

Y'know, as a kid growing up in two-channel Bumf**k Canuckistan I'd shut the Electrohome TV off & go outside if Casper was on - even if it there was freezing rain or snow coming down.

The live action movie is like, ALL about finding out who Casper was and how he died.

When I was a kid, a friend of my grandmother's who had been collecting comics his whole life gave me a TON of Harvey and Disney comics from before I was born. I read the hell out of them, over and over, and gained a completely useless and uncool encyclopedic knowledge of characters my friends didn't really know or care about, including Richie Rich (my favorite), Casper and the Ghostly Trio, Wendy, Uncle Scrooge, etc. LOVED those comics. I even got curious about selling Grit- I didn't even know what it was or that it had presumably died decades earlier, but all these characters sure were into it! Eventually Ducktales and the live action movies gave them some more cache, but not much.

...I only posted this because I almost never have an opportunity to talk about it.
