An old roommate had it; looked pretty fun.  I was never interested in the Scott Pilgrim line so didn't pay too close attention.  Would be curious to know if he still had it.

My kid bugged me to buy it because you get a free shirt with purchase. Heck for $8 (or was it 6?) and free shirt, that's a deal.  After purchase I found out it was a virtual shirt for your online avatar.
Still worth the price.

Here's what it is.  Somebody is mad they can't still play Double Dragon II on every console from here to eternity.  Apparently this game was out for a while, and then it wasn't, after which nerd rage took over and NO ONE CARES, SERIOUSLY.  Play other games.  Or don't, and get on with your life, Christ.

It's like anything else, really.  What if weepy old sadsacks couldn't stream Titanic?  It's the same thing.

Joycons do have some measure of motion control, so I am dubious that Skyward Sword could not be made available on the Switch.

Of course, for less "official" emulation there is always Mayflash's DolphinBar. If I do play Skyward Sword again it will be in 4k.

Eh, Skyward Sword was a good game, but I wouldn't exactly say it was a good Zelda game, probably one of the lessers Zelda games.

I have a Wii but you can emulate the game, and Wii controllers are bluetooth so there's nothing really stopping you. And you can get a USB sensor bar.

Also Wii's are dime a dozen so there's that as well.

I've never known of a Scott Pilgrim game. Is it good? Or is it good because you can't have it?

It is a well-made beat-em-up with fantastic music and a style primarily borrowed from River City Ransom but with shout-outs to all manner of classic games put in throughout.

If there was no way to watch the movie Titanic, for the rest of time, yeah I would be slightly alarmed.

Say whatever you want about it, it's landmark cinema. It broke records. It's not as bad as the world memed it to be.

If something like that, part of our shared culture, was just locked away forever with no way to experience it, hell yeah I would be pissed.

Hmm, that didn't really answer the question. It was more a description of something that indicated that it had some good features.

I created a well-made poo this morning, good shape, all in one piece but I'd only tell Fark about it and wouldn't recommend anyone else experience it.

Scott Pilgrim vs the World: The Game was actually pretty fun. It used the comics art style and was, IMO, one of the best side scrolling beat em ups since Turtles in Time or Streets of Rage 2.

It's both. It's a good game that's only really noteworthy for not being commercially available.

So... software engineers should be employed forever to constantly update a game for every new platform that comes out for eternity? Even when demand for it on those new platforms drops into the dozens?

The game was digital only and it was removed from the online stores, meaning you can't buy a used copy and you can't play it even on a PS3 if you didn't download it a decade ago.

Plenty of PS3 games are abandoned and unported but you can still buy them if you want. There's a 4-player TMNT PS3 game that suffered the same fate, but at least it has physical copies on eBay.

It's not that it is unavailable because it's old - in fact it was removed from the digital marketplaces fairly quickly as said games go, because of the multi-layered web of licensing deals that was required to release the game in the first place. If you read up on the game, its development and release, and the delisting, it's a complete clusterfark of everyone wanting a bigger piece of the pie and not really caring to talk about it because the movie flopped. I mean, it's a digital game - given the nostalgia factor for the game now, they'd probably at least make back the cost of porting it - but the rights snafu was ridiculous.

If you are selling the game then you have the money to pay for updates.
If you are not selling the game then let someone else sell it and they'll pay for the updates.

I trust there will always be a hungry engineer who's quite happy to update some game from 1988 to run on the latest hex box 9 when thousands of fanboys would happily pay them $20 apiece just to share the nostalgia with their kids. The consoles owner itself might do it because they want to say they can play all of the games.

The problem is when the game is owned by companies who can't work out the license deals because IP rights can become a nightmare when you're greedy. That or Someone tries to play Disney vault with a product and now you're installing sketchy software from the nethers of the internet just so you can play the song of the south shump. No ones making money except the occasional extortion-ware hacker.

I just replayed it through a couple months ago.  Fortunately I bought it when it came out and still have my 360.  Unfortunately, I didn't pick up the DLC when it was out and have no way of adding it now.

It's a fun game.  Nothing groundbreaking, but it's solid, has some great pixel art, and has a really great soundtrack.  I just feel bad that people seem to keep blaming Anamanaguchi for the game being pulled when they'd love nothing more for it to be re-released too.

I was really hoping that the 10-year anniversary would be reason enough for Universal to get the stick out of their ass and find a way to port it to modern systems.  The cost would be minimal and they'd probably make a tidy profit off of it.

There's actually a niche market in translating old books and reprinting them on amazon.
I know of a guy who does that for all sorts of mystic tomes and voodoo magic books.

/When its not under copyright you can do that and get paid.

That game is actually a great example of how it isn't the same thing:
https://www.destructoid.com/stories/konami-classic-yie-ar-kung-fu-returns-on-ps4-and-switch-573329.phtml

I've never played Scott Pilgrim and I don't know if it's even fun to play now, but I understand why people want to archive media and artifacts after the original medium goes away. It's a weird attitude to have that we don't need to bother saving anything before the last decade because there are newer things to replace them. If I liked Star Trek it would definitely be frustrating that some of the early episodes are simply no longer watchable because the BBC didn't think they were worth keeping, even if they are objectively terrible television it would still be a cool historical artifact.

That said, the guy who tweeted this is the author of the comics the game was based on. For him it isn't really "you can't read your favorite book", it's "you wrote a popular book but your publisher refuses to reprint the only copy so your grandkids will never be able to read it." I can understand why creators are disappointed seeing their work hidden away from future generations.

I had a copy, until my PS3 (original 60gb backwards compatible) shiat the bed. Never did get to finish it. I was on one of the last few chapters, got into something else for a bit, my PS3 died, and when I went to download it again, it was like "nope!". How can they just take back something you paid for?  Shouldn't they issue refunds?
