Subby here.

Made it for the second time this past weekend.  Simply awesome.  Incredibly moist - more so if you bump up the apples to 2 cups.

I definitely recommend the springform pan if you have one.

The first time I made it it seemed like it may have cooked unevenly - a circle within had popped up higher than the edges.  But even that time it settled nicely and looked just fine.

I made if for breakfasts for my mom this week.  As her health declines it's getting harder and harder to get any food into her.  And she was a super frustrating picky eater before she got sick.  Yet this morning she at the whole piece, with a bowl of strawberries on the side.  That's all the endorsement I need!

There's a cake pan linked in the recipe which looks much easier to clean than a springform. No moving parts.

This one? Interesting.  Looks like it would work fine.

It's so spongy and nice that it doesn't stick at all.  Pulls nicely away from the sides as it starts to cool.  Easy to clean.

My wife occasionally makes these. They're delicious.

I don't like apples. I never tasted the appeal. Now, make this with peaches and all is forgiven.

I hate when people talk during recipes.
It's just coffee cake.

Ooh, I bought a case of peaches from a local produce vendor over the weekend. I just might make this with some of the peaches. Thanks for the suggestion.

Try this one too - it's almost apple season. From a 1951 Farm Journal Wives Cookbook.

OK, making this right now, but w/ a mix of apples, cherries and blueberries!

First note, 1 c sifted flour is very likely not 1 c flour sifted.

My dough came out SUPER THICK, and with my still healing wrist, I elected to thin the batter with half-n-half.

It says, "pour..." There was no way that was going to "pour".

"Cake will keep up to 3 days."

Pssh, not in my house.

And? No result pic? I couldn't get to sleep so I dropped in here but I'll check back tomorrrow.

Oh, and one cup of flour sifted will be at least 1 1/4 cup by volume.

Had a tiny piece late, late last night and fortunately remembered to take a picture. It's yummy!

hmm, I think I have all of those ingredients and I've been looking for some kind of snack to make, and I just found out that that dead tree in my back yard isn't dead, and it has apples!
