I'm sure they did it to keep them out. Most of the bad stuff in Chicago does not happen downtown.

Everyone remember to vote Blue in November so the Democrats can finally gain power in those cities and begin the process of healing. 300 or 400 years of uninterrupted control should be enough for their policies to start working.

I feel like across the country both parties are picking worse and worse candidates.  Aside from Obama/Romney, I can't think of an election since Bush/Clinton where there were two good candidates, regardless of where you fell on the ideological spectrum.  I look at Lightfoot and am like "how in the fark did a large city elect that person?"

Chicago, and Illinois by extension, is doomed. I know I'm leaving the city/state next year. I'm just one of thousands leaving Chicago.

Here's the keys. Have fun at bankruptcy court. I'm going to the mountains and laugh from afar as Chicago continues to sink.

Weirdly, I'd move back to CHI if the weather was better. Chicago seems like paradise when compared to California, Texas or Florida, from a financial and health perspective.

Well, she told Alderman Burke to STFU at a City Council meeting; that was a first, and long overdue, and a good thing.

Since then, not so much.

She cut down on patronage and is trying to do more for the neighborhoods instead of focusing on just the central downtown area.

Well, she'll probably be focusing on the central downtown area for the immediate future. Word on the street is that some of those stores are still in bidness and are restocking.

Oh, I didn't realize there were no black sports fans.

Yes, political riots and sports riots are treated differently. That isn't necessarily a racial thing.

Which is why I call it "catch and release".

There's a lot more money to be made writing parking tickets.  Prosecuting violent criminals takes time and money that could be better spent ensuring those parking spaces aren't abused.

The problem stems from the Police unintentionally protecting the criminals from the victims. Crime needs to be dangerous, for the criminal.

Details on the police shooting are a bit fuzzy (as usual).  The rumor was the cops shot a child and that set people off. Except it looks like that child was late teens or early twenties and carrying a gun while evading the police.  This is not even remotely the same as someone in custody being killed, or the cops barging into a home using a falsified warrant.

Last night I mentioned that Portland mobs are going to snap at some point and the shiat will get serious.  Something like this in Portland is exactly what I was suggesting.
