I heard it's coarse, much like the quality of George Lucas's dialogue.

Just me, but I think if Lucas had given his actors some actual freedom to work with the material Christiansen could have made that line and scene work.  Harrison Ford got into multiple arguments with Lucas over the dialogue in the original trilogy.

Better line: I hate sand, it's hard, and it gets in everything. Not like you, you're soft, and everything gets in you

This FTA is the perfect description of EXACTLY where FAN FICTION is minded from.

"Star Wars has been using its extended universe to fill in gaps from the sequel trilogy and shed new light on events of the original trilogy. "
There is no such thing as "new light" to be shed on anything that you are just making up as you go.You can't retroactively change the motivation or make up of a character after an event, that is again exactly what the formulae of FAN FICTION is.Sure we all saw  the story, but WHAT IF...And so see super evil to the max villain is not really that at all, see.And so that side line comic relief charter is actually the main charter pulling all the strings this whole time. And what you didn't know al a.long was that they were brother and sister....ok wait ignore this last example. ;)

Terrible line, but a great pick-up line:  "I'm coarse, I'm rough, and baby, I'm gonna get everywhere."

Well... yeah?

All of Disney's stuff is fan-fiction, not serious attempts at an EU or sequels, not sure why you're surprised that it all follows the conventions of such.

I mean, you saw at least some of the new movies, right?

And Ford was right every time.  I have no clue if Christiansen is a good actor or not, but since Lucas couldn't get anything memorable out of Liam Neeson or Ewan McGregor I'm going to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I still feel bad for poor Ahmed Best.  Wasn't his fault his character was terrible.

Its extended universe. It really only exists for like. 20 or 30 years  until some new director or production company decides its no better than erotica written by chris-chan and force lightnings its cannon status.

Thrawn was the best story line in star wars since star wars.

I read soooo many of those books. Not many good. Some great. "I Jedi" for some reason i found to be pretty good.

Grand Admiral Thrawn and the Katana Fleet would have made a much better trilogy.
