Question 1. How will they keep the smaller islands from capsizing when it's tree gets too big/tall or wind pushes it over?

Question 2. Information in the TFA was sparse so I'm not sure I'm interpreting it correctly. It's going to have a 'hull-like' bottom, like a boat/ship and a deck that is planted?

Question 3. Are they tethered?

I really did enjoy all the photos but 'the article' was whispy.

what happens to them when there's a bigass storm with high waves and winds?

with only wood/plastic and water beneath them, what will keep those plants and trees from freezing solid and dying every single winter? in places with freezing winters plants that are happy perennials in the ground often die if left in above ground pots where the roots freeze.

High maintenance island-like boats.

Okay then.

Yes on three answers one. Anchor tethered with over buoyant object will stabilize something smaller and taller.

When I just looked at the picture I thought they were going to be like the chinampas in Mexico City. Those plants are anchored through the water into the ground. These are actual islands that float around, though. That leaves me with a lot of questions.
They're pretty though.

If you have questions, go to Copenhagen during the two weeks of summer they could actually enjoy these floating islands.

Every single question will be answered.

For those that can't go to Copenhagen, imagine "that weird kid" that's stuck inside all year long, except that one weekend when he goes crazy.  He sits inside his room all year long, thinking and planning for that one weekend, to make the most of it.  That is Denmark.

rotterdam did something similar a few years ago, on a smaller scale, if i remember correctly.

their current project looks like this : https://www.houseanddecors.com/floating-park-in-rotterdam-is-made-of-recycled-plastic/

On windy days, the overhead photo looks like that of a 1970s electric football game, with all the islands crowded together in the corner, while one rotates endlessly in a small circle.by itself

'The "parkipelago" was designed by Australian architect'

Do those things work in Australian waters?...

He actually thought a freaking island could tip over and capsize if too many people were on it. Why do you feel the need to defend him?  Perhaps you are a fellow believer of the unstable island religion.  Do chemtrails also enter into your belief system?

I have no idea who or what you're going on about. I'm going to guess you are talking about this Hank Johnson you mentioned in your last blather? I have no idea who he is and I don't google every name some Yo-yo types here on Fark.

To answer my own last question, It obviously comes naturally. Fark off nimrod.

what is wrong with you? you're talking about this, right?

https://www.snopes.com/fact-check/tipping-point/

YOU do realize farking guam, the top of an ancient and long extinct volcano that still reaches all the damn way down to the mariana plate that forms the bottom of that part of the pacific ocean, is NOT similar to these proposed manmade "islands" which are actually small, flat-topped boats clad in trees?

"For the construction of the "parkipelago" of floating islands, recycled and sustainable materials will be used-steel and floatation elements clad in Forest Stewardship Council-approved timber. As for the process, the designers will be using traditional wooden boat-building techniques."

the only "mind numbingly stupid" voice in this thread is YOU.

Allow me to explain the joke to you carefully.  I would also try to explain it slowly but that's hard to do in text.  Hank Johnson made the statement that he was worried Guam would tip over and capsize if too many people moved to it.  He was rightfully mocked for it and his intelligence and qualifications for his position were called into question.  So I was joking that maybe he paid for this project so he could tell people "See, I told you islands can tip over."

I shouldn't have had to explain the joke but I'm guessing you need to have anything other simple statements explained to you.

uh, dear moran, your "joke" would be extremely funny if these were actual islands.

they're not.

they're tiny, mobile, wooden boats that haven't even been built yet.

you appear to be the only poor dear soul in the thread who, for some odd reason, believes SMALL BOATS, never, ever capsize....

even hank knows "traditional wooden boats" are not volcanoes.

yeah, this is fark, but on rare occasion one must RTFA to make wry, witty jokes.

better luck next time.

p.s  in your original comment "pay for this" can come off as "pay for OK so amuse me's post" not "pay for the pipe dreams of some australian architect in denmark".
