No cause of death was given, but Harris had battled a myriad of health issues in the past several years and had both legs amputated due to diabetes

Wow.  This makes the media coverup of FDR's wheelchair look like a minor league deception

Are you saying it's ok to perpetuate racist stereotypical depictions as long as you are the color of the people you mock?

I guess that also makes it ok for wrestling fans to indulge in the racism, as well? I guess they have no reason to feel shame for what they did, because at least it wasn't a white guy in black face doing the "Kamala" act?

If I understand the story correctly, "Sugarbear" Harris went to Jerry Lawler back in the Memphis territory days for a job and they just threw the gimmick together before a match.  Harris was later confused to why Lawler had painted a banana on his stomach afterwards.

In defense of Muhammed Hassan, that character was not racist at all in the beginning. Go back and watch the original vignettes. The whole gimmick was that he was an American citizen of Arab descent in a post-9/11 world, and the fans were racist for booing him just for his appearance/ancestry... which is 100% true.

Now granted the WWE didn't exactly stick with this narrative and he became a complete stereotype that got worse and worse as time went on, culminating with the whole terrorist angle with the Undertaker. I do sometimes wonder what would have happened if they had stuck with the original gimmick, though.

I liked the whole Hassan angle.  Unlike in the past where you had an ethnic heel like the Soviets or Iron Sheik, Hassan's character was a product of other  people projecting racism upon him (despite Hassan actually being an Italian).  It was an interesting angle, I hate you in response to you hating me for who I am...you made me this way.

I think it could have had a lot better run of it wasn't for the London bombings and then Vince sending out a bunch of masked terrorist to attack the Undertaker.

There were others to that I can't find online  right now.
