The players are going to pull out before the top tier conferences shut down, but the end result is going to be the same.

Agreed - the Power Five conferences just snapped to attention because of this - those decisions that they've been putting off and putting off need to get made.

Good on the MAC for being at least somewhat proactive, unlike all of the other reactive groups (like our federal government and many of our local governments).  It will be interesting to see how long it takes for one of the big boys to come to the same conclusion; it will also be interesting to see if the Mountain West, AAC, Conference USA, and the Sun Belt follow the MAC, being that they're in a similar situation both financially and competitively.

Why cancel and why not postpone? If we do get the vaccine, we could easily have volleyball or soccer in the spring.

Not sure if serious, but the record for a vaccine being produced is four years.

And even if we get one approved by, say, January 2021, the first doses will be reserved for healthcare workers, essential workers and high-risk populations. Young, healthy student-athletes would get theirs when there's enough for everyone else.

Don't even need the qualifier. We need to shut it ALL down, period, end of discussion. All these half-assed attempts are literally getting us nowhere. I can't even work in your state right now because of this

And even if we just talked CFB, how do we expect college kids who regularly get caught breaking curfew and other rules every single week of college football to not get sick? It's going to happen. Some hotshot CB is gonna go clubbing and come back dead three weeks later. And with teams as big as college teams, where they regularly have multiple players in the same numbers due to team size, this is never, ever gonna work. Hell, a lot of schools aren't even coming back in person yet.

The Big Ten has apparently postponed padded practices for football and are reportedly meeting today, where a decision to postpone all fall sports to the spring could be made.

Shingrix was approved a few years ago.. EVERYONE over 55 should get it, GSK knew that and knew the demand.

It took them TWO F*CKING YEARS to get the logistics and manufacturing right.

This is not going to go well.

Not that it'll prevent ignorant whiners in the future from complaining about only certain teams having a realistic shot at a national title when that isn't why teams not in that group are voluntarily at the 1-A level though.

At this point, I only expect the SEC to try to play.

Because Floriduh, Alabamuh, and Joejaw need that armored wankball revenue to pay the bribes to the NCAA to keep themselves from becoming Cleveland State.

You're getting old, Woody. The Buckeyes have won it somewhat recently and have been in contention multiple times since. They certainly had a non-zero chance

The G5 really needs a separate division at this point, much like the D1 split into 1-A and 1-AA back in the 70s.

Same thing with Connecticut Football.  They were a money loser even when they had the power games paying them for likely losses.  Pushing all conferences Fall sports to the Spring will make it easier to schedule assuming the situation allows for play (a big assumption given current numbers and rate of spread and lack of confirmed vaccine).

Oh you.jpg

You can't even get tested unless your employer demands you get one, or you can convince the nurse that you feel like you are coming down with a case of the death. Everyone else go home and come in later before you die.

The vaccines will definitely go to the talent keeping these billionaire industries going. Need to keep the money coming in.

UConn is in a bad place because there's no northern G5 conference outside of the highly insular MAC (neither Temple nor UMass worked well in the conference as football-only).  If they were located in the deep south, they'd be a perfect fit for the Sun Belt.

At some point, I expect Army, UConn, UMass, and Liberty to try and form a northeastern lower-tier G5 conference, if they could convince teams like JMU and Villanova to move up from FBS.

What you will get from MAGAts.
- How is it trump's fault?
- It will be gone after the election.
- It's just the flu...
- Once we reach herd immunity...
- If you're old or have underlying conditions then you need to stay home. Everyone else is fine.

I have seen all of the above just today.

are students adults, can they waive their rights for a safe environment?  They already are putting themselves at risk for long term debilitating injury, the amaerican conference is asking for hazard pay, but its an unnecessary risk, nothing about college football is essential, if it is not safe dont play

Also they should get their scholarships take a year and not lose eligibility

I mean, I hope they did it for the right reasons and not just because the Power Five canceled all out of conference games which had the side effect of devastating athletic department budgets for mid-majors (i.e. no cupcake games).

The PAC 12 players have gotten together and have made demands on the threat of sitting out.  Let's just say that negotiations with the commissioner did not go well.
