Extortion and voter suppression are republican values.

fark them - go to the polls - mask up - bring hand sanitizer - get there early in case there is a line - make a spectacle of peacefully showing up like any other effective protest - like the women's protests with the pink hats - show up - everyone - and do your duty and vote - and show the world by the pictures and footage of the millions exercising their democratic rights that will result - and make transparent the attempts to physically suppress the vote

In 2016, my state of Washington had about 3.3 million voters. At 35 cents extra, that is roughly 1 million dollars.

roughy 40% of voters like myself and my wife, use Ballot drop boxes instead of mail

So that is a 600,000 dollar increase

We have a total Budget of 118 Billion dollars.

so that is roughly a 0.00000508474 hit to the budget.

I am not saying this isn't a pathetic thing to do.  But it wont be quite the impact they think it will be.

Don't get mad.  Vote.  Moderate budget overruns can be overcome.  Losing more people to a failed pandemic response cannot.  Having more of our tax dollars stolen through grift cannot.  Losing our democracy to voter suppression cannot.

Oh they think people won't risk death to vote that sack of shiat out? I hope that motherfarker is living under a bridge or a prison cell not long after the election. Regardless I get the feeling his secret service detail is going to be made up of dudes who slept with their bosses wives, and got em knocked up.

Depends on how much uncommitted budget a state has, and how badly the state's budget has been hit by the reduction in income taxes and the greater payout of unemployment and other social welfare benefits.

If the state isn't prepared to spend an extra million bucks in postage then they're going to have to cut somewhere in order to do it.

Republicans have no morality and no understanding of right and wrong.

2020-08-08 2:01:20 PM
If you wondered why republicans would do something as stupid as block the sending of federal relief funds to the states as part of the relief package, this is why.

Their stubborn refusal to compromise is election tampering, and it's happening in broad daylight.

eurotrader: Extortion and voter suppression are republican values.

Should the Democrats retake the Senate and the Presidency, we really need a new voting rights act, one that guts state provisions that deny the right to vote to any unincarcerated citizens.  Basically if you're not full-time incarcerated in a jail or prison setting, you have the right to vote.

And if we're going to have a federal ID system, that system can be integral in the update of voter registration cross-state, so when someone moves and registers in a new state, that registration can trigger a notification to the old state based on the surrender of the old state's ID.  This wouldn't even need party affiliation to be noted at the federal level, that aspect could be intentionally firewalled such that only the state retains party affiliation data.  Furthermore, make the issuance of one federally-compliant ID per year free for in-person requests and nearly free (like the cost of postage plus a dollar) for electronic requests.

A lot of old people who don't trust online payments use the USPS for bills and to send stuff to their grandkids.  Obviously they're too stupid to realize their hero Trump is farking them over yet again.  But still they will vote for him.

I'm sure Sen. Collins is concerned.
Looks like he's learned his lesson.

If we need to all dress in hazmats suits to vote, then that's how we should do it.
If this arsehole wins a second term, it's been a good 240 year run, I guess.

Republicans insist until they're blue in the face that they don't hate minorities.

Because it's always what they do, not what they say that indicates that they despise anybody who is non white or an immigrant.  Even a legal immigrant.

Absolutely.  My whole point is this isn't going to shut down the election.

Also all the other stuff they seem to be doing to slow down the postal service is going to bite them in the ass when medical supplies and stuff people inrin states/counties need takes too long.

I think you have it backwards. You think the complaint is about the cost. I think the actual complaint is rhetoric about increase to make the mail-in ballots appear as typical Democratic Party fiscal irresponsibility.

By saying "Look at the percentage increase!" the media is assisting the Trump team and the Trump voters in pressuring states to stop funding it. And yet it comes at almost no expense to the red states that might want to fund it. It is a win-win way to discredit mail-in ballots for the GOP.

Not only legal, but recognized as a completely legitimate job. I continue to be astonished how the US lambasts "corruption" in other countries but continues to host "lobbyists". Hell, guanxi is more ethical than lobbying.

It will give election officials in RedCountry the cover they need to reduce mail-in participation while they scale back in-person polling locations "because of the Coronavirus situation".

It's Game On for rat-f*cking this election, and they're not even hiding it.

One might get the impression from the mask-hate, closing down women's health clinics, gutting health care and junking Social Security they don't give a shiat about either quality of life or if you die. Prosperity Gospel at its finest. You are meant to be rich or meant to suffer for the rich.

Protest? Sounds like someone wants riot police to show up to keep the peace and shut things down until the polls close.

Trump is desperate, and there's gonna be tear gas and riot police and unmarked vans in force in swing states near urban polling centers. I wish all of you good luck.

When more people vote, Democrats almost always win.
