"We're trying to do the very best to control something we can't see,'' Mozeliak said. ""It's an invisible virus. I think the one thing we are all understanding is that we don't know much about it. ...

Nah, my neighbor of 31 years across the street thinks it's a hoax, no different than the common flu. So, plenty of fluids, rest, and take Alka-Seltzer Plus and you'll be good as new in a few days!

My buddy's neighbor just gave him the same rant.

And I mentioned in another thread, a high school friend of my wife passed from COVID. A very giving person, her FB was full of nice remembrances. And then one of the Trumper nutjobs from her class got on there and started spewing shiat. Her friends told him in every possible way that "this is not the thread" but he didn't care. There's lot of asshole in these hoax experts.

Coincidentally, the only MLB team that has zero positive tests. So far.

Too much money to be surrendered.

And the Marlins playing again shows they know how to handle the situation.

I see a LOT of doubleheaders in the Cardinals future.

And we're already a quarter of the way through the season.

The current best case scenario is that, with zero days off, the cards would need 6 double headers to hit sixty games in the current season. But there is zero chance of going a month and a half without a day off so 10-12 is more reasonable. Again, provided they don't lose more time to COVID.

Anyone go for the push and take 20?  That's why you add the half to the spread.

/I'll take the over

Among players, anyway. Their pitching coach had it in June. He's 38. His experience might be the reason the Cubs seem to be taking the right precautions.

Baseball is stubborn.  You go over.  Right now with only 1 or 2 teams knocked out they can schedule around it and go with a ratio if all 60 aren't played for all teams.  The only way we get a shutdown is if 4 or 5 teams are down.  Even then, I think executives and team owners want to get to playoff ball and the extra TV money.  They are already losing so much money due to lack of gate revenue, concessions, etc.,they are thinking if they pull the plug now, they have achieved virtually nothing but huge losses.

They are in the hole, and they think they can dig their way out.  It isn't going to work.

Reports are that the Cardinals next series against Pittsburgh is already in trouble.

Mathematically, they cannot make up all those games in a fair and reasonable way.
