You can tell a man to say something stupid
and he will say something stupid
or you can teach a man how to be stupid
and he'll be stupid for the rest of his life

RasIanI: TheGreenMonkey: I've lived in Georgia for just about 2 years now, and the state is mostly a shiatshow with the corona virus. The county I live in is increasing in cases, and classes start next week at the local university. We are not expecting good results.

And I really, really wish there was a decent music scene here.

Atlanta is pretty good, from my memory

I've heard they have a great section for rhythm.

Once upon a time, when dinosaurs roamed the earth and Wyche Fowler and Max Cleland were US Senators, Athens-Atlanta had a music scene that was the envy of the country.

I was there, Gandalf.

Didn't Soul Miner's Daughter come out of there? Athens had a great music scene in the 90's.

And the B-52s came out of Athens in the 70s.

Pylon, REM, Gualdalcanal Diary, Georgia Satellites, and a lot more.

Yeah, I grew up in the Augusta/Aiken area, but at that age my favorite bands were the Monkees and the Mouseketeers.

/I left before Athens was cool

mrwknd: Fark Georgia. It is a sh*thole now with all the racists and Mama's Boys acting all wannabe tough guy Nazi until they get to Mama's house, it is however quite sadly comical in a way when you see it, then it's all all "yes ma'am, I'm your little precious snowflake, truly disturbing. Or their family is all hateful Nazi wannabes.

Any, Kemp is a dick Republiderp.

Fark Georgia?  Ok, even though the majority are against this, and are only not represented because of voter suppression, let's go ahead and burn down the plantation and fields while the slaves are still trapped, instead of trying to rescue the slaves and drive off the overseers and slavemasters.

People living in Georgia are still trying to overturn this minority power-grab over the majority, but they also have to contend with the "burn the whole thing down because working or fighting hard and long has never been my thing and I hate you for doing that too!" crowd.

Learning from mistakes is so hard for conservatives.  They would prefer to just burn the house they are in down rather than reconsider their decisions.

The epitome of a farking cracker ass cracker failing upwards. He was a terrible SoS who exposed millions of taxpayer's data on more than one occasion, ran a shiatty business and defaulted on personally backed loans that he tried to hide to said business. Truly, the GOP of today distilled into one money laundering vote suppressing self dealing shiatweasel. He appeared at the CLOSING (guess why?) of a longtime bbq joint yesterday without a farking mask, natch. When the goddamn Alabama lunch lady and Mississippi Statue Farker can bring themselves to have a mandatory mask order while you are SUING mayors to prevent one, you've risen to the top of the toady standings.
