It's not my habit to tell my family how to vote, but I farking BEGGED my Georga-transplant step-brother not to vote for Kemp. I even provided him a list of well-sourced reasons why.

He never replied, so I am absolutely certain he voted for Kemp. Fact is, if Kemp had promised to burn down Stepbro's house and rape his wife, I still think Stepbro have voted for Kemp, given his alternative was...a black woman.

Stepbro always had some pretty nasty racist impulses. Of course, he's very happy in Georgia.

His mother tries to hide her disappointment. Such a shame.

Look, Georgia is basically a warzone for cultural change right now. Nobody is trying to flip, say, Boston, and as a result sensible precautions are being taken. But Tyler Perry didn't need to drop a crapton of money investing in Boston for change. The Repugs aren't spending money fighting in blue states. The problem with warzones is that they will see people killed. And that's where we're at, fighting to get rid of the bullshiat that conservative thought has weighted us down with for generations. It won't happen quickly. It won't be easy. But it is happening. Vote blue, ffs.

Dangerously stupid isn't that unique among his peers.

Up to January 2020, I would have really liked this totally new definition of "authoritarian" which means "leader who ignores medicine regardless of deaths and science". But major companies, led by Apple, Google, Amazon, Huawei, the global stock ownership from investments made by sovereign wealth funds of Saudi Arabia, Russia, and the Philippines, are all obviously authoritarian. And yet those entities can all claim to follow medicine and improve health.

Paul Baumer: TheGreenMonkey: I've lived in Georgia for just about 2 years now, and the state is mostly a shiatshow with the corona virus. The county I live in is increasing in cases, and classes start next week at the local university. We are not expecting good results.

And I really, really wish there was a decent music scene here.

Once upon a time, when dinosaurs roamed the earth and Wyche Fowler and Max Cleland were US Senators, Athens-Atlanta had a music scene that was the envy of the country.

I was there, Gandalf.

Athens, Atlanta, and Macon were all music cities.

You people who think there's not a scene in Athens don't live in Athens. Good bands form, good bands play, good bands die. It's the cycle of Athens.

As for Kemp, a couple of years ago after church, we were having lunch at Schlotsky's and there he was. I resisted the urge to tell him that, as a computer person, we know you're either up to mischief or letting it happen. I wish I hadn't.

/He's from Athens
//but he's not of Athens, that's for sure.

Atlanta is pretty good, from my memory

I've heard they have a great section for rhythm.

Unfortunately not. But I spent most of my time at the 688, Metroplex & Blue Rat Gallery. It's pretty bangin' tho!

firesign: mrwknd: Fark Georgia. It is a sh*thole now with all the racists and Mama's Boys acting all wannabe tough guy Nazi until they get to Mama's house, it is however quite sadly comical in a way when you see it, then it's all all "yes ma'am, I'm your little precious snowflake, truly disturbing. Or their family is all hateful Nazi wannabes.

Any, Kemp is a dick Republiderp.

What the fark are you even talking about? Have you ever been here lately?

The metro Atlanta population is like 6 times as high as it was when I was a kid (or more) and growing constantly, and the backwoods/mountain/middle of nowhere population has been steadily declining. There's huge swaths of blue across the political landscape and a *giant* one around Atlanta. Newt Gingrich's House seat(which was later Tom Price's) is now filled literally by Black Lives Matter in the form of Jordan Davis's mother. That's exactly the opposite trend of whatever the hell you just said.

Has Cobb county really gone blue? If so, that'd be amazing! (Grew up in Atlanta in the 70s and 80s, saw the first and second wave of corporate architecture, and was fortunate to live in Athens just as REM was hitting their stride.)

Didn't Soul Miner's Daughter come out of there? Athens had a great music scene in the 90's.

And the B-52s came out of Athens in the 70s.

Pylon, REM, Gualdalcanal Diary, Georgia Satellites, and a lot more.
