Zillo is meat bag centric and is actively redlining.

I don't know, I find it kind of interesting, in an "Illinois real estate is farked" kind of way.  The price is right and it doesn't look like it's too far away from Chicago. If I had to relocate I'd consider it.

Deerfield is a very nice area, as you can see by the property taxes.

It's farking bonkers to me that you can buy a house like that for under $1 million.

Bought this in 2012 in the Dallas burbs for a fraction of that.

Are there severe storms in that area? Because that house is reminding me of a great big Domino waiting for a strong wind to push it over.

Nice find.  I was wondering what a pic from that side would look like.

After the 15th ReCaptcha "test", I have failed to convince Zillow that I'm not a robot.  I keep clicking, keep identifying what they want me to, and keep hitting next.  Almost...Robotically.

It has its charms.

The only major downside is it backs up to a divided 4 lane road in McKinney.  On the plus side, we can make all the noise we want by the pool and nobody can hear it.  Neighbors on either side are half a lot away, thanks to drainage easements on both sides of us.

I failed one a few days ago.

It had no planes. Not one. Second had no bikes. It gave me a short lockout.

The trick is to make intentional mistakes. Of course the first one was "bicycles"... with a pic of two guys in a parking lot and three motorcycles.

"Taxis" I had to trick it. There were only two yellow cars with writing on the side, presumably taxis. It rejected it. Ohh look, there is a picture of a yellow fender of a car, so naturally it wants me to pick that.

No sir. I picked the white Nissan crap box and then it let me through.

Prices in that distant (to me) Chicago suburb seem like they're about half the cost in my small city. But the property taxes, got damn. I picked a house that looked roughly comparable to mine, and the prop tax was triple, over 3% of the listing price. I think income tax is higher there too, and sales tax is about the same.

It's half a block from a double set of active train tracks

While the address is 970 Chestnut St, Deerfield, IL 60015, it seems to be in the back half of that lot like a converted garage. In street view the front door opens onto Hazel Ave.

Ah. The answer to why it's been on the market for so long. And being that close to Chicago I bet the train goes by so often you wont even notice it.

I did a little digging about the house in question wondering how it came to be. So it seems land is at a premium in that area and developers are always on the lookout for leftover bits like this that no one has developed for obvious reasons. And then the developer built this aberration on it. The locals did not view it favorably.

Lot of people believe only the coasts exist and that the way they pay through the nose for everything is "just the way it is."

Man, that's awkward looking. I think the guy that drew up the blueprints was on a bender when he planned this out.
