I've only spotted a snowy owl once in my life. Turkey hunting. It was about 4:30am. I was sitting against a tree, waiting for a gang of Toms to come over a ridge (phrasing!).

It floated in from the left, threading through the trees, and drifted to the right, out of view. It never flapped its wings nor made a noise. It was nothing short of a spiritual experience.

Coincidentally, my brother shot his first turkey that morning, after practicing with a slate turkey call for a year. After pictures were taken, my brother whispered in the turkey's ear: "you know that total babe you heard this morning? That was me."

We get one or so every mid-winter down here at the Jersey Cape - usually at the point or up along Stone Harbor-Sea Isle.

I miss owl memes. Can we do one good thing in 2020 and bring back owl memes?
