Somebody needs to stop the weather channel before they name everything.

These ball lickers at the Weather Channel need more constructive activities other than naming everything that happens.  What's next?  Thunderstorms?  Fog?

No.  Just no.

Naming to anthropomorphize disasters activates the hate best in humans. Humans hate other humans more than anything and 2020 is all about hitting Peak Hate.

I heard cold weather kills more than hot weather. They're going to need to give me a citation before I believe them.

Really, no.

But if you're going to name heat waves, I'd suggest starting with "you f*cking bastard" and working from there.

Stop naming things that aren't hurricanes. Hurricanes get names to make them easier to track because we can have several active at once and can last weeks.

As memory serves, we used to get heatwaves as part of the weather report sometimes, some summers tracked temperatures above the average for enough consecutive days it was called a heatwave.

And then sometime in my teens during the late 80's early 90's, heatwaves ceased being a thing you heard reported or even said. Even though clearly the weather was in fact hot and reports would say, record highs, and do so for many consecutive days, and yet somehow this is no longer a special out of the norm moment we have a name for to describe the period of time of higher than normal temperatures.

Now that every summer is just that hot and hotter normally it's a not a special wave of heat to name,it's just the new climate paradigm.

Oh and  now they want to start acting like a a string of days that's hot enough is again somehow a special event of weather to be named and not just, today's temperature is _____, and yes that's hotter than we've recorded it in the past at this same time of year, this year, same as it has been almost every day for many decades running now.

It's not a passing wave, it's just the new normal, best get used to it.

As the article implies, heat waves are silent but deadly. I think you're on the right track except for all the trumpeting.
